Alabama Fraternity Advice

Would like to get the SECRant's thoughts on fraternities at Alabama. I have a friend who will be attending in the fall and he is interested in pledging. Which ones are "wild", which ones are "elite", etc? Which ones would you be comfortable sending your kid to?

You won't go wrong with majority of them. The big thing is to try to get in touch with rush chairs quickly because the rush events started this past weekend.

Rush as many houses you can and don't accept the first bid you get. Bids arent hard at all to get as long as you get along with the guys and the rush chairman likes you. Dont get discouraged if you have a shitty experience at a house.

When I was in school the best fraternities were DKE, SAE, Phi Gam, KA, Sigma Nu. They are considered Old Row on fraternity row. The original fraternities that started back in 1800's. Usually from the old money and prominent families but not exclusively by any means. DKE over the years has had tons of guys go through from La. New Orleans in particular. Phi gam seemed to as well. ATO's seemed to have a Louisiana connection as well. DKE, Sigma Nu, Phi gam houses are right next to Bryant Denny and also a block from bars and food on The Strip. The rest of them are close to the Quad and convenient to campus. They were all pretty wild in my fuzzy memory. Well, there's your Cliffs.

Just visit all of them and go with the one you fee most comfortable. Who gives a frick about the image of each particular one.
