re: How can you even make the case that college baseball is part of a "Big 3"?

From the Arkansas wiki page. I'll go look for figures.
Only time in the last 7 years Ole Miss hasn't had a profit was 2010

Arkansas is one of only four schools in the SEC to turn a profit from its baseball program in recent years, along with SEC Western division rivals LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

I'm actually shocked South Carolina isn't in that group.

What?
hmm, nevermind.
I posted earlier a link that said only LSU/arky turned a profit.
Who knew you can't trust everything you read on the internet?

Move along everyone. None of us should keep up with college baseball anymore because it doesn't turn a profit.
Those schools that do turn a profit might as well join an independent minor league or something while all the rest should just pull the plug.
In fact, lets only keep up with whatever ESPN tells us to keep up with, such as the Cowboys, Yankees, and Lakers.

Does ESPNU or ESPN3 count too because I'm all about that Sun Belt football.

If ESPN could turn a profit airing College baseball games on ESPN2 on the regular, they would, there is nothing worth following until the NBA playoffs at this point.

Some of you are taking this way too personally. Dale isn't saying you should stop caring about baseball. It looks like some of y'all's schools have great atmospheres for college baseball games but just because y'all like it doesn't mean its anywhere close to football or men's basketball in terms of national popularity.

This guy gets it.
The "Frozen Four" is a bigger deal than the CWS to a portion of the country.
Soccer is the most popular sport world wide.
College Baseball as a southern sport with a larger emphasis/following in the Southern states, likely due to a lack of MLB teams in the region.

Baseball is a thinking man's sport, that's why it's so unpopular with much of today's youth. That's also why it's unpopular with most of the members of this board. Most people don't understand it enough to have an opinion, yet they say they hate it. That's ignorance.

It's more than a sport.
It's the only thing in the entire universe that is not bound by time.

It is an incredibly simple game, the thinking that occurs is to starve off boredom, it is however, an incredibly un-spectator friendly sport.

Completely true. Those sports are totally on another level. College baseball is growing though and ESPN is starting to show more and more games. You see the stadiums getting nicer and things like that.
College baseball has a challenge though with talented high schoolers leaving straight for the pros and going to the minor leagues. The baseball draft seems to have 100 rounds.
Also, the northern half of the country hasn't even started their 4-month long process of thawing out their buttholes from the winter when college baseball starts. Sorry for using scientific terminology there...
