Uh Royals fans I think you need to fire your GM.
Royals GM Dayton Moore on why he didn't go after Yoenis Cespedes. "We didn't fee like that was something that we could execute."

After seeing Tavares up close, I'm sold on one thing. Dudes a hitter.
Scares the shite out of me in RF though. Zero instincts. He is to fielding what Peter Bourjous is to hitting, goofy and uncomfortable looking.

Ok, seeing what the Rays got for Price just pissed me off again. Could have had Price for a lot less than Craig, Kelly and Ramsey. These guys better come in and be lights out or Mo is going to look like an idiot. Not that he cares.

5 earned runs in 6 innings. Anyone impressed?

No.
However, I didn't expect him to come out and light it up in his first start back from the DL either. If he can make a positive impact in September, assuming we are still in it, I'll be pleased.
Much like Allen Craig, he's damaged goods with a better outlook next year.

He won't be in the rotation by the end of September. If Wacha comes back it will be Waino, Lynn, Wacha, Miller, Lackey.
ETA - And that's why that trade made no sense. It doesn't improve the team on iota come playoff time. I guess long relief?

Amid all the whining and bitching, the hand wringing, and the behind the scenes leaks to local AND national media, Oscar Tavares has quietly made an impact.
No way we win these last three of four if Craig is playing instead of Tavares.
Dude will hit going forward.
Lackey looked good as well. The importance of a guy like that every five days can't be understated.

I'd hate to jinx us but really, Taveras, Carpenter and Holliday have all been pretty strong since the ASB. Lackey in and of himself doesn't bother me in as much as I think Mo lost his balls and could have gotten a deal done for Price. Only thing I can think of is that Mo didn't feel comfortable that an extension could be done.

Im pretty sure the Rays were dead set on Taveras and MO was not dealing him. The Rays are idiots it looks like they made a deal at the last second just for the sake of it. By that time Lackey was already traded here. Masterson is a work horse and trying to save the bullpen. Ramsey was never seeing the majors in a cardinal uniform as the OF is stacked with better talent. MO did the right thing and get them a quality arm for the stretch run.

Agree about Ramsey. I got no problem with trading some of our young outfielders. Masterson only averages about 5 innings an outing the best I can tell though. That's not eating up innings and saving your bullpen. Having said that, I get that he did just come off the DL but that could be another reason to question that trade in the first place.
I'd also agree that Mo had no intention to trade Taveras and I'm good with that.

I've given up hope that he's coming back.

A move is coming for the series against dem O's in Bawlimore.
Look for one of Grichuck, Piscotty, or Pham.
Robinson most likely going down.
DH this week, and then a bat on the bench in Miami. Looking for a spark off the bench for the stretch run I believe.

It's probably not smart, but I'd put Piscotty in RF and let Taveras DH. As I remember from spring training, Piscotty has a cannon. If not that, I'd be curious to see Pham actually.

Didn't realize we are tied with the Brewers in the loss column.

Well, forget about a move to bring up someone for DH.
Matheny is about as hard headed as it gets. Why he thinks Descalso and Ellis add anything to the lineup is beyond me.
He makes me want to

And Masterson still sucks. That move may have made us worse. Still calling it....Masterson will not be in the rotation before the end of the year. If it's not Wacha coming back healthy, it will be bringing up Gonzalez who's no where near ready but still gives ya a better chance to win.

I wish a StL media personality would hold Mo's feet to the fire for these recent moves, especially the Masterson deal.
Gave away a legit prospect who fits the Cardinal model to a T at a position of need (I hate that phrase) for a bum.
