Depends on what you are looking for, if you think red lobster is fine dining and your idea of nightlife is all you can drink for 5 bucks, then Hattiesburg is great. The entire city is national chains from shopping to dining to most anything else. Weedy is wrong Hattiesburg has probably the least amount of culture for a city it's size in the south.

Not sure what your vendetta against Hattiesburg is but you couldn't be more wrong about dining there.

I am sure both tourist who visited there would agree about how wonderfull Hattiesburg is. Not even close with the Purvis guess. Why the frick do you nitwits care what anyone else thinks about Hattiesburg anyway.

So far we have Leatha's - overrated and actually in a trailer park
Keg and barrel- a run down house converted into a bar&grill
E&l subs and seafood- enough said
A Thai joint run by chinese that is put to shame by the golden wok.
And a steak house that should be converted back into a barn.

One poster did chime in with a few good choices though 206 etc.

Sorry if I don't think an evening at the Hunt club with afroman followed by a meal at the golden corral is a great time. Perhaps the OP would agree if not he can chose whatever he likes. This only my opinion and though not worth much, it is of the same value as you winey counts opinion. so again go frick yourself

Or he could always move to the coast, get a face tattoo and be walking distance from 5 waffle houses at any given point.. Bottom line: for Mississippi, Hattiesburg is a better than just ok place to live. You and all of nobody else are really saying otherwise. Don't be mad that you're wrong, just be wrong..

What a dumb argument.
Posting dumb shite like that can make any city look bad. Watch...

Dude, New Orleans sucks so much dick.

Sorry if I don't think an evening drinking at Saturn Bar followed by a meal at the French Quarter Krystal is a great time.

The point you are missing is that would be the only entertainment in the burg for the entire weekend. N.O. would have limitless other options.

Back when I used to party in Hattiesburg a place called Sports rock was there. I also partied at the library and bottling company downtown. Not sure if any of the aforementioned are still opened.

I guess you guys are right, hell they may have to add a second flight a week to handle the crowds flocking in to eat and hangout in Hattiesburg. Hell N.O. and the coast should just shut down as the crowds abandon them just to be seen strolling down Hardy st. While they are at it the Rock needs to be expanded for all the national acts begging to play in the mecca that is Forrest Co. as well as handle the sellout crowds to watch the Golden Eagles play. If you want to know the truth about the city sit on any road out of town on a friday and watch the weeks only traffic jam. You can white knight for it all you like but it does not change the fact that there is little to no entertainment there, the damn bars close way to early, and the city just plain has no soul. If the tornado had picked it up and dropped it in Kansas no one there would notice it and no one left would know it was gone.

What the frick is wrong with you?
I don't think anyone is trying to compare Hattiesburg to New Orleans. Damn. But for a town in MS it is one if the best.

And as far as you hating on it, if you live 20 minutes away from Hattiesburg, then you live in some desolate shite hole.

I spent a week in Wiggins, Mississippi which is about a half hour south of Hattiesburg. It was late July and I swear the tropical heat and humidity there is unbearable. I'm from Alabama and its hot here, but the summer heat in southern Mississippi is just different. I imagine its what Hell must feel like. Passing through Hattiesburg all I noticed was the USM campus and not much else.

12 hours and several post later=off the top of your head.
Again why do you care what I think about Hattiesburg?
If you ask a local what the best thing about the place is, they immediately tell you how close to N.O. or the coast it is. That says more than I ever could.

I lived there from 98-05. Would still be there if I didn't get a job offer I couldn't pass up. Loved the town, the restaurants are good. You will need to try different places and find out which ones you like. Just like every other city.

Southern miss fans are just that. Most of us came from larger SEC towns, like me, and cheer for at least the eagles and our hometown teams. It's sad, but is what it is.

Nightlife- you missed out on the original Mugshots with an old dude named Brady Roberts playing classic rock on Tuesday nights. He's passed on, and the bar burned. Those were good times.

I hope you do well there. Hattiesburg is a good place to live.
