i kinda bit your head off yesterday feral, sorry. i just really don't see how anyone can look at those unis and not like them.

but about me- holy shite we just had this elderly a-hole (i don't care if it was alz or dementia or whatever he was an a-hole) in our store. i wasn't even who he was talking to but i wanted to go out there and punch that screaming, cussing, bitching sob in the face myself. he was so bad we called the cops. ok- that's it, just had to vent.

Meh, I think Long does an excellent job of ignoring the noise from our fan base, and it's one of the many things I like about how he runs our athletic department.

agreed but people should voice their concerns. if nobody voiced their complaints/concerns we'd still be ruled by the British...

on a side note it sucks our old uniforms were used in those The Razorback Football Experience vids. too bad they didn't wait to film till we had our new jersey's

Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

they implemented their masot into the uniform as well...

After dropping hints on Twitter and teasing its fan base for days, the University of Miami finally revealed its new football uniforms Saturday afternoon at Sun Life Stadium.

Aiming to respect the past, represent the future and renew the program’s identity, Nike took Miami’s traditional orange, green and white colors, and added some twists — integrating the Ibis mascot into graphic designs on the hip, shoulder and helmet, and changing the font and size of the numbers on the jerseys.

There are four jersey colors, four pant colors and three different helmets equaling a total of 48 different combinations that can be worn, UM’s sports information staff said.

The all-orange “Juice” uniforms, which will be used at home, are accented by green sleeves at the shoulder with the a graphic of the ibis’ beak. The all-white “Storm Trooper” uniforms, which will be used on the road, are also accented with the same green and ibis logo at the shoulders. The alternate uniforms are called the all-green “Surge” and an all-dark gray uniform referred to as “Smoke.”

The program’s traditional white helmet will be paired with the green uniforms. A white and silver helmet with a grey facemask will be paired with the home “Juice” and away “Storm Trooper” look. And a new chrome-orange helmet with a “clam” logo background will be paired with the “Smoke” uniforms.

UM will wear black shoes and socks with all of the sets, a tribute to the 1980’s teams.

UM’s sports information staff said Nike received input from Hurricanes equipment manager David Case, athletic director Blake James and coach Al Golden before beginning work on the uniforms. Case passed on what the players were asking him for.

Nike will not be releasing jerseys for sale to the public until early July. When they are released they’ll have Duke Johnson’s No. 8 gracing them.

“We could go out there in a half-cut 1980s jersey and I’ll still go out there and play,” UM linebacker Denzel Perryman said. “But the all gray with the orange helmets were my favorites. It just stood out to me.”

Canes players got to see the new uniforms a day before the public did, and UM released a video clip of the players jumping up and down in excitement as they were revealed to them.

Players said none of it was staged. In fact, most said they liked all of the new jerseys.

“They are really sick,” tight end Clive Walford said. “Those jerseys are actually the Pro Bowl jerseys from this year. If you look at them they’re the same — just with the orange and green in them.”

There was far less hooting and hollering by Miami fans when they got their first glance at them about an hour before the spring scrimmage. But the general response on social media was positive about the new looks.

Chris Freet, senior associate athletic director for communications at UM, said the school is considering announcing in August when the team plans to wear each of its uniforms.

“The uniform comes at the right time for the right team,” Golden said. “These young men, who unselfishly guided us through some very dark days, now display a renewed attitude and spirit! These new uniforms capture that outlook.”

The all green and all grey looks good, but yeah, the orange and away look terrible.

you guys gotta remember that the uniforms are more about recruiting tools than "tradition" these days. I like the modernized unis but I wouldn't mind seeing a 2000 era throwback every once in a while.

Outside of the DMac era, almost all of our uniforms between 2000-2009 were terrible.

Why didn't they use the font for "GOLF"? If they're going to use it, be consistent.

I didn't love the font at first... but I like it in some contexts. Personally, I would have preferred a "normal" font on our football jerseys, but it's not a disaster.
