Hmmm...

What part of Lauderdale?

There is the beach and the beach bars. No explanation needed there. Dirty Blondes is the best bar on the beach. Exit 66 has a cool pool party on Sundays.

Las Olas is my favorite area in Fort Lauderdale. Cool strip of restaurants, bars and shops. Mostly higher end and original type places but a Cheesecake Factory as well. Rocco's Tacos is kinda the most popular hang out on Las Olas. Good drinks and food. Duffy's is the most popular sports bar. There is a big one right off of Las Olas that at during football season off and one.

Downtown Lauderdale used to be slammed every Thurs-Sat. Kinda like Bourbon Street where it was a huge street party and you could bar hop all night. Everything is still there and it is cheap as far as a night out goes, but the Hardrock in Hollywood is the place now to go out. It is about 15 minutes south and west from downtown Lauderdale. Huge entertainment complex, kinda Vegas style. Casino, shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, you name it, everything is there. It is cool and lots of people pretty much all week, but on Fri-Sat there are a few thousand people there. They have shows and events as well.

On the North End of Fort Lauderdale around Commercial Blvd to the east towards the beach is Truluck's and Blue Martini. Trulucks is a really good restaurant/bar. Actually saw Cam there winter of 2011. Blue Martini is next door and is a good singles bar. Just down from there is a beach bar scene with a little mini downtown area that is packed pretty well on Fri/Sat. Also, a favorite spot of mine is Ocean Manor. It is a hotel on the beach that has a kick arse outdoor tiki bar that is popular on Wednesday nights and some weekend afternoons, mostly with locals due to it sitting on the beach and being a cool place to chill and watch a game or hit the beach.

Strip club in Lauderdale (if interested) is Solid Gold. It is upscale and really cool. They have a cirque du soleil type show on Fri/Sat night around midnight. Chics flying around from the ceiling and stuff and of course hot strippers.

Think that about covers it. Any more specific questions, just let me know.

Oh yeah Riverwalk at the end of Las Olas is another place you can check out. More family oriented and exactly what it sounds like. Bars, restaurants, movie theater, etc.

Don't always agree with you or your politics, but I know you know how to have a good time.

I may be getting promoted/transferred down to the area, but for now I'm just testing the waters there for a few weeks. What's the cost of living like? Able to live decently without being in total crap areas of town?
