I agree we have far too many laws.
all sides have a share of the blame in what has become the cop and citizen relationship.
the cops have plenty of tool bags that act like assholes, they also have good ones that are just following orders from the guys above them. The people above the average cop are a problem. The laws overall and the drug laws are a major problem and they make enforcement a huge business. You have the federal gov shoveling funds down here for all kinds of toys that the cops here don't need and shouldn't be allowed near but they aren't going to turn down money from the fed to rape the rights of citizens.
the other problem with the cop citizen relationship is the bad cops aren't punished as often as they should be. the good cops don't speak out often about bad cops needing to be kicked from the force.
I don't see much changing though because the prison system and drug bust are big business. Cops and citizens alike would probably be safer if we loosened up drug laws.
That's probably one of the best explained short tort responses I have seen.

the jump out boys should feel some shame that good officers blood was shed so they could continue their thirst for new shiny toys.
The CJ system has a lot at stake in keeping the status quo. Unfortunately they sacrifice safety of officers and civilians alike, lose respect of the population and create criminal enterprise in the process.
Violent cartels and street gangs are a byproduct of policy.

the true thugs on both sides of the line prosper while good citizens and the true good officers suffer.
The ATF, ATC and other groups have the blood of innocent cops on their hands, the blood of innocent people killed in botched warrants on their hands, and the blood of the constitution on their dicks.
I don't know if they have broken down stats on all of this stuff but I wonder how it would look if you checked out all the officer deaths from traffic stop just to see how many were guy with drug warrant or drugs in the car vs. just a random citizen going crazy for being stopped.
the cops with the attitude of going back to partners being a bad thing are terrible people. it is unrelated but it is also part of the cop problem we have today.

the cop defenders will blame everyone but the actual officers that pulled the trigger. they will blame the 80 year old, they will blame the intel side but no blame is put on the trigger puller because dammit his job is dangerous. sure it isn't top 10 dangerous in the country but emotion means more than stats.

"Police Brutality" tagged articles on Reason.con will make you lose your religion.
One video from last month of Arizona officers shooting a guy who appears to pose no immediate threat was particularly chilling.

internal investigation with no transparency at all will clear the officer and all shall be swept under the rug.

Update: more details on the woman LEO's record come out. Most relevant:

Report from GBI expected within "days."

In 2008, while confronting three suspects, she fired her service weapon. An internal investigation found the suspect was trying to remove his backpack. She was convinced he was going for a gun, but a fellow officer said he never thought the suspect was armed. Internal Affairs concluded she should not be punished because the initial call for service said the suspects could have been armed.

Interesting bump...but that article clearly states that IA concluded that she shouldn't have been punished for that prior incident.

you seem to fit the mold of the bad apple that gives LEOs a bad name. Hopefully I am wrong and you are just playing message board pot stirrer
No he's an elitist minded a-hole in real life, it's a certainty.
Bottom line with all of this, police have lost the right to have their word be taken without question. That inherent right should be lost. Too many bad apples ruined it.

Right. I'm pretty certain that she'll be "cleared" in this new incident as well. I think that says more about the process than it does about the officer's judgment and ability.
So, she's discharged her weapon twice at unarmed people (at least that's what it looks like at the moment) and will be "cleared."

Think your celebration may be a bit premature...could still end that way.
Most of it is just message board pot-stirring. But I think things could end badly for him if he were involved in something and a civil lawyer got wind of his posts here. But we were all young and dumb at some point, so far be it from me to withhold from him the opportunity to be young and dumb as well.

That's just my only response to 808 from now on no matter the thread.

Given the options you have, I'd pick gifs if I were you, too.

I highly doubt you are any type of LEO to be honest.
Some one on this very page can verify I am.

But if by some miracle you are you have done your profession a great disservice in this thread.
By defending an officer that everyone else is seeking to convict without any actual knowledge of events.... Roll Tide.

Nope. Just don't like the conspiracy theorists on this board. Funny they all seem to be Mizzou fans.

I don't care about that. He's having his raison d'être challenged and it's not going well on the reality versus fantasy scoreboard. He'll either develop a cognitive dissonance or change his raison d'être.
