The MLB first-year player draft is underway. Junior starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull went to the Tigers in the 2nd round at 63rd overall. While he hasn't officially announced, it's a given he'll sign with Detroit and won't return to Alabama. Junior outfielder Ben Moore went in the 8th round to the Red Sox, 254th overall. Tonight he announced that he too will sign and forego his senior season. High school signee Matt Morgan, a catcher, went to Toronto in the 4th round at 114th overall. No word yet on his decision. A lot of juniors and signees (plus senior Austen Smith) will be drafted in rounds 11-40 on Saturday. Almost all will be in Tuscaloosa next season, but Wade Wass will likely be gone and Justin Kamplain is the big one. I'm surprised he's still on the board but it increases our chances of having him at Alabama next year. He's the big story to watch because he'll be crucial to the team's success next year.
The draft is complete. Kamplain went to the Yankees in the 18th round, and now the waiting begins... Smith went in the 33rd round to Miami. Wade Wass, shockingly, didn't get drafted at all so he'll be back. Nice for us after Moore left, but I hate it for him that he didn't even get a choice. I can't understand how he didn't get drafted. Our lineup will be very good next year, the pitching staff could be dominant but only if Kamplain returns.

I think hosting a regional this year is very much a possibility.

Looks like its mostly gonna be the four of us in here again this year With regards to St Louis, I saw a tweet from DC Reeves where they won 41 games last year and return the A-10's pitcher and hitter of the year. So again, if we take care of business this could already be a nice RPI boosting series at season's end.
