If these kids grew up in GA, then they probably only remember Coach Richt, and we have done pretty well since he has been here, other than a natty. I think this plays a big role into the recruits wanting to stay home. Richt has been here 13yrs, so an 18yr old signing would of been 5 when Richt got here, so now they get a chance to play for their childhood team and coach. Lets hope a lot of the future studs of GA watched uga football growing up.

UGA isn't the easiest school to gain admission to..I suspect some of these kids are admission risks and we know there are a few questionable characters out there as well...plus we recruit nationally for QBs and skill players..and who can argue that there was anybody in-state who could compete with Moreno (new jersey), Green (s carolina), Gurley/Marshall (n carolina), Stafford (texas) and Murray(florida)..

I would hope we could lock down linemen from this state, but i don't care where they get anybody else from..

I think this year?

Oh yeah.

This is going to be one of those total and complete kick arse years in recruiting, imo.

This is your first mistake. A lot of these kids didn't grow up in Ga and if they did their parents more than likely did not so there is very little in the way of allegiance to UGA.

As long as Aladamnbama is winning and winning and winning they will continue to pull player after player there, UGA and other schools will get some of whats left

I don't really care if we get them from GA, FL, TX, or AK. I want us to get the best talent and the best fit for our program. Just because the player is a top GA prospect doesn't mean he is the best fit for our team.

But even if we wanted every one of the top players from GA, some of those players just won't want to play for UGA no matter what we do to recruit them. Some of them just want to go out of state. Some of them grew up as fans of other schools.

I don't think a lot of these kids in HS are big College football fans. When I played HS ball I dont remember one guy saying anything about watching ball on Saturdays. That may depend on area of country and state though.

The whole idea of dominating specifically in-state recruiting is somewhat antiquated, IMO. As we move forward, kids are going to be less and less concerned with location.

At this point, UGA is much more of a regional recruiter than a local one. I would say our "region" includes GA, FL, SC, and NC. AU is the same way, but substitute AL, MS, and LA for the Carolinas. As long as UGA holds serve in our region, we'll be fine. Naturally, we'll get more from Ga than anywhere else, but it's not the end all be all to "lock down" the state. There are no borders anymore in recruiting. Even LSU is losing kids left and right, and that's a much less transient state than GA.
