And this is not a Evans melt because he did exactly what I thought he would...

But kids from Tuscaloosa, Northport, Demopolis, Jasper, etc...they NEVER come to Auburn.

But kids from Auburn, Opelika, Phenix City, Alexander City....they don't mind going to Alabama.

I'll never unnderstand that. And I know who Alabama is...but it still is crazy to me.

Because Bama fans will do alot worse than trash the kids on the message boards if they turn on the Tide. You'll have a hard time finding a Bama fan that would let their kids go to Auburn without a huge fight.

How many highly rated kids have come out of that area lately?

Because I can't think of one.

I see what you're saying and I have wondered the same thing, but reality is Saban has made a name for himself and is a great recruiter... But with that being said it didn't stop us with our first year coaches and first year QB from whipping that bama arse this year..

Kids who grown up in Auburn want to leave here. It really is a small town without outside of the University.

I delivered pizzas while at Auburn, and I'll tell you the instant you leave the immediate vicinity of Auburn's campus you start to see Alabama shite. Opelika is FULL of Alabama flags etc. Just a result of how the state tends to break down in allegiances. Lot of pressure on kids to go to Bama from a lot of angles no matter where you go to HS in this state.

Alabama has a better campus. Hands down. It is what it is.

Community pressure is totally different in those parts of the state.

It really is a different world altogether than Lee County, etc.

fwiw, I don't think Alabama's ever signed a guy from Alexander City... there have been several that have gone to auburn.

same goes for opelika... can't think of any that signed with bama (tho Melvin Oliver went to LSU when saban was there back in the day). Roberts was committed by flipped.

Question, did Evans tell the Auburn coaches that he was coming to Auburn this past weekend?

If true, then I understand being upset with him for lying, but given that very same attribute, one shouldn't be upset he gone.

I'm mean sure a 5 star is awesome, 40% of them make it to the NFL, like Richard Sherman. Dude is a beast and h... wait... 3-star. Well, how about SB winning QB Russell Wilson, a... 2-star.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather Gus and this S&C program have a bunch of 3-stars and 4-stars who committed to Auburn EARLY than to have 18 year old 5-stars who are getting way too much attention way too EARLY and reveling in it way too much on NSD.

Sounds like the class Auburn got, is awesome as is.

Watching the situation from a little more distantly than most of you, it is shocking to me that a player would go to a big rival of his mom and dad's alma mater. I mean, his dad played here, right? Personally, I know that growing up I watched a lot of the same teams my dad did by default. He is from Cincinnati, so I do have some affinity for the Bearcats and Bungals. I can't imagine if I had grown up in the city of a major football school with my dad being an ex-player there and going to a major rival. I'm just a bit perplexed, I guess.

At this point absolutely no fricks given. He chose whom he chose. AU will move on. He can go play next to his buddy Reuben Foster and Lose again next year.
