I don't have much of anything for an emergency stash, but I've recently been thinking about stocking up on some things just in case. I'm woefully unprepared for a disaster right now. The only thing I've got a fair amount of is ammo.

The inspiration for me wasn't zombies or communists. The 2009 storm started as I was finished up a boston butt, so we had that to eat for a few days. Had I not cooked that butt that day, I would have been eating sweetgum balls and chewing honeysuckle vine off my fence.

The Federal Government recommends at least a 3 day stash, 7 days if you can. The authority has told you, so there's no excuse. If a disaster hits your area, there probably won't be any kind of a panic or run on grocery stores and gas stations and pharmacies, because the department of homeland security has made an announcement that you should have 3-7 days of food and medicine on hand.
