St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood wide receiver Ryan Davis definitely is a prospect for Auburn fans to track.

That's because Davis, a 4-star athlete, thinks the Tigers could be close to offering.

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee recently visited the 5-foot-9.5, 167-pound recruit. And not long after former Florida coach Will Muschamp was hired as Auburn defensive coordinator, he and Davis spoke by phone.

“Auburn, I heard from coach Muschamp and their offensive coordinator came to see me," Davis told Gatorbait.net's Luke Stampini. "I should get an offer from them pretty soon. I talk to him [Sunday]."

What did Muschamp tell Davis?

“He said he knew what type of guy I am and he said, ‘I want you to come where I come. We are going to have a meeting sometime this week and I’m most likely going to have some good news for you. I want you to be a Tiger,’ ” Davis recalled.

Florida currently leads the Crystal Ball for Davis with Florida State next. Alabama is another school that apparently is heavily involved. Davis met with new Florida head coach Jim McElwain for the first time last week.

Davis is the No. 16 athlete in the 247Sports Composite, and carries a 91.18 rating.

Well, it's pretty obvious that Muschamp says "frick what a contract says ".

ETA If Lashlee talked to him first, then we were already recruiting him........so Muschamp has no problem recruiting him also.
