He talked about the QBs currently on the team before adding, "Then you have the guy coming in from Florida State."
I spoke with someone else this weekend about Coker. Again, was told it is a done deal. If Coker does not come I will be shocked.

So tired of hearing this. AU was in the top 10 the past several years in recruiting + Gus recruited every year but the year he went to Arky St. Those are his players. Frazier, Trovon Reed, Dyer those are his guys!

Why didn't Coker play over Trickett?
Clint knew the system and had game experience. Jake was a RS FR.

Chizik totally change the makeup of the Offense in that one year that Gus was gone. He wanted a large OL with TEs and power running style. He tried to follow what bama and LSU were doing.
But you guys keep telling us that Gus's system is a power running system and not a gimmicky offense?

I love it. A guy who's yet to see any action and has an injured knee and is currently enrolled at another school is bama's savior next year. Throw in ridiculous expectations (comparisons to Russell, Newton, etc.), a little un-coaching by Kiffin, and this is setting up nicely for a Class V disaster.

His dad was the Assistant Head Coach/OL Coach. Auburn was recruiting Trickett when he transferred btw.

How would you decribe what Tre Mason did the last 4 games of Auburn's season? Gimmicky or power run up your asses?

I would describe it as the latter, but according to your fellow Auburn fans, once Gus gets the guys suited for the power run game out of there and gets the recruits he really wants in there he will reach his full potential.

quote:You and I both know that's not happening....wishing is one thing, but believing is another. CNS and Co. wake up every morning with a plan to make Alabama football better. As long as the man's around, the Alabama football program will be a national power to be reckoned with. That's why I say to the Auburn and LSU people on this forum, y'all need to worry about things that you can do something about (improving your own programs), and not about things out of your control. (i.e. changing the weather, Obama's politics, Alabama football, etc.).
We are concentrating on Auburns Program, but it is fun watching the "Dynasty" tear itself apart from within.

Not sure as to those AU fans...this team is full of Gus' recruits. He was only gone for about 10 months. Prosch is prob the only guy that was not suited for Gus bec he didn't have the hands of an Eric Smith...but we have Ricky PArks taking that role now.

I know it's rare on the rant, but finally someone with some common sense.

This.
Gus has shown you he can win with his own recruits, because those kids are ones HE recruited. Chizik and Trooper may have been good recruiters, but Gus is almost assuredly the one that identified the talent. Considering AU's recruiting rank this year, I think Gus is quite capable of recruiting without either of them.
Auburn recruiting (247 sports rankings)
2014 Class - Currently #7 in the country
2013 Class - #13 in the country (Nick Marshall)
2012 Class - #11 in the country
2011 Class - #8 in the country (Tre Mason)
2010 Class - #6 in the country
Nick Marshall is a good example. He received his offer from Auburn on 1/1/13; just 4 weeks after Gus Malzahn was named HC at Auburn. Tre Mason visited Auburn in November of 2011, a month prior to Malzahn leaving for Arky State.
Basically two critical cogs of your offense were identified by Gus.
