is that no more cringe worthy than say a Nebraska vs. Utah 'traditional' rose bowl?
the playoff is going to be great for Jan 1st... it will bring back the excitement that has disappeared over the last decade or so.

The Rose Bowl has been an afterthought for about 10 years now. It has been and will be the only BCS bowl that I didn't bother to even watch a single play.

This.
The only excitement I get out of NYD anymore is watching SEC teams and my own when we're there. Otherwise, I'm sort of meh on games like the the Rose and Fiesta unless they're compelling matchups, which they weren't this year. I take guilty pleasure in rooting against the Big Ten because their failures make sportswriters go crazy, but that's about it.
