Don't we already hate enough people for no reason?

I would throw the stone that only people who lose to their rival feel this way but glass house and all.

As Isaac Newton said-"for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction"
The natural universe exists for oppostion. There is no yin without yang, no 'tang without the poon, no right without wrong, no left without right, no kama without sutra, no straight without the ghey.

No hate, but it doesn't really pay when the weak arse beaker bitches won't play you anymore because you left them for dead.

Be happy yours is in the SEC. It stinks having Tech be in the ACC because it limits our OOC games.

Rivalries only help or hurt coaches. It gives coaches something to hang their hat on when they beat their rival during shitty seasons, and conversely, it spells the boom for them when they lose to them during shitty seasons.
I haven't really missed having a true rival the last two years. Especially the idea of this contrived rivalry with Arky. I'm selling rivalries.

Yes, rivalry games have higher attendance/viewership and therefore have more money spent on them in the communities. So it actually does pay off to have a rival.

Yes. All of the great sports teams have a dingleberry little brother that nobody likes.
New York Yankees: New York Mets
L.A. Lakers: L.A. Clippers
Alabama FB: Auburn FB
Kentucky BB: Louisville BB
Manchester United FC: Manchester City FC

rival: "a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity."

It is said that hate and love are essentially the same emotion....

I think if you don't have some form of rival to hate you just begin to hate yourself
