I will be honest, I was never sold that Gus had what it takes to win a NC. It only took him 1 year to prove me wrong. I understand we might lose but Auburn is good enough to win it all.

still not sold. If it weren't for 3 lucky plays, you are sitting at 8-4...

I was skeptical, until I saw the hires Gus Malzahn made. He sold me rather quickly.

Was cautiously optimistic. Don't know what category that falls under. Definitely didn't expect this.

I don't understand why so many Auburn fans were skeptical the guy is a good coach. And its good to see wing t principles in college ball.

I figured they had nothing to lose by giving him a chance but I did not figure he would be nearly so successful in his first year at Auburn.

Well done

I was skeptical about 2013 Auburn, but definitely not Gus.

I thought it was an outstanding hire. I had no idea he would turn things around so quickly, but Gus was #1 on my wish list.

Dude is an O genius. I saw it when he was kicking our arse during the Arky game, when he was their OC. I saw what he did with Tulsa's O. I saw what he did with our O as OC. While I am definitely on the Gus bus, the staff he hired is second to none also. Quality at every position on our staff.

I was happy and not skeptical so therefore I was flat out wrong - so far. The next couple of years are when he will be tested and proven worthy or not. He will come into next season ranked real high, possibly one. Can he win then? We will see. From what I have seen I do not see why not but all we have is one season to go by. Could easily have three more losses but doesn't, team found a way to win.

lol the down voting.

I was wrong. Congrats on your teams big season.

Looking forward to Bama bookending another Auburn championship next year.

I was flat out wrong. I thought we would be undefeated and playing for the NC, not 1-loss.

I thought he'd get AUB to compete for BCS bowls, albeit not in year 1. I knew he'd be 5000X better than Chiz, though. A great job by Gus, even if they hadn't beaten UGA/ALA (I still thought 6-6 or 7-5 type).

This thread should be linked in the 'why does auburn need acceptance thread'. Look at us! Look at us! Shower us with praise!

What the frick are you wanting from this thread? Do you honestly think ANYBODY, auburn fans included, any single person on this website would have said before the season "I think AU will have 1 loss, win the west, win the SEC, and play for the national title"? No, of course not. Basically you want everyone on here to say "yes yes we were wrong about how incredible and awesome gus is!! He's the best!!"

Why? Everyone knows he's good. We can all see what he's done and how valuable he is. I don't understand why you need random strangers to type that out as well to somehow validate you.

In four or five years, once Bart Bulumia gets "his players in his system" and they get bowl eligible, Arkansas will prove to you that you where wrong.

I thought he would be a good coach, but I didn't expect him to win the SEC in his first season.
