It's looking like he might be the guy for OL coach.

He's an experienced OL coach and served as the OL coach at Georgia in the first 6 years of Richt's tenure which were definitely his better years. We won 3 division titles and 2 SEC Champions during that period. He left UGA to take the HC job at UAB. He should be a good hire. Neil would probably be a decent OC if called upon.

I used to know Neil pretty well when he was at Alabama. I can tell you this, Neil was as responsible for Alabama's probation problems as Mike Dubose. Mike ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, whereas, Neil is nobody's fool. Many times you'd have thought that Neil was running things in Ttown. When the shite started to hit the fan, Neil slipped out the back door...

Solid, old school Coach. Kids that played for him in Athens seemed to like CNC...Recruiting apparently isn't his strong point IIRC...

In terms of OL coaches under RIcht, Neil and Will Friend have been about even. Recruiting under Calloway was shoddy at times, but he still managed to cobble together a functioning line. Nothing ever Bama 2012-esque, but serviceable considering what he had to wokr with. If his recruiting has gotten any better, I'd say he is a solid hire (especially considering the OL UF has had to live through the past few years).

I recall reading on another board that former players feared him and Van Gorder, that both would often get into it with one another at practice (in a positive, competitive way). SO he's at least supposed to be a fiery guy

UGA's last two OL coaches were both coached by Calloway... Searels at Auburn and Friend at Bama... Friend then worked for Calloway at UAB.

In that case IMO it's unanimous: hire the man immediately!!

Depends on what type of Offense you run. I can not believe you would hire an OL coach before you hire an OC.
