AJ has been the backbone of the Alabama offense (he really is a "game manager"), but the offense doesn't rely on the QB to win them games. Their OL and RB positions have been the primary threat with a QB who can throw the ball well enough to keep the defense honest.
The difference between AJ and other QBs like JFF and the Winston is that those guys can throw their teams on their backs and carry them to a win. AJ is an important piece of a very balanced and complete offense, but he isn't a game-maker by himself, unlike the others.

Saban has proven that the QB is basically irrelevant. Mcelroy, JPW, and now Mcarron have all win big. Why? Because they rely on an elite, top 3 defense and a strong running game. The QB is just asked to not frick up too bad.
Mcarron doesn't deserve the Heisman any more than Murray does.
