SPIN OFF: Seriously, Best Movie Remakes

1.) Dredd
Although I could have topped the original using my Galaxy S3 and some bottle rockets. I AM THE LAW
2.) Ocean's 11
It was solid, the sequels just sucked a major anteater though.
Besides that, I honestly can't think of a single Remake that was worth a shite, other than the Batman movies by Nolan......

The Total Recall remake was a fun watch.

Dredd was one of the best movies made last year. I've watched it probably 3-5 times.
I don't view that as a remake as much as getting it right the second time.

King Kong was good.
The 80's Blob remake was better than the Blob movie from the 50s. Much more gory

Bogart's Maltese Falcon is better than the original.

True Grit.
I love John Wayne movies, but let's be honest: The Duke plays the Duke in every movie. Jeff Bridges actually played Rooster Cogburn.

I dont know if it counts but "Let the Right One In" was an incredible movie... It's a Swedish film... Then they remade it for American theaters and titled it "Let Me In"... The remake was even better.

But yeah, I completely agree with you about Ocean's 11 (and 12 and 13)

Isn't The Departed considered a remake? I believe it is, and it gets my vote.

Not technically a remake, but I love John Carpenter's The Thing.

I might get shite for this but, I thought the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was better. Now Daniel Craig was a little out of place because he couldn't do an accent, but I felt it followed the book better than the Swedish one. At same time, that series should have a movie that's closer to about 3 hours. There's so many little details that make it a really fun read. Granted I did figure everything out about halfway through it.

agree about 'the girl with the dragon tattoo'.
even 'tho technically it was a remake of a short, i'll say '12 monkeys'.
