they really don't at all. They pay $55m for 16 games a year which includes the SEC championship game. Given ratings, it's almost free.

ESPN just paid $80m to both the Sugar and Rose for that one game annually. They pay $100m per game for MNF. In both cases, the average rating is about 2.5X the average CBS game making market for SEC T1 close to $400m. It's absurd how little CBS is paying.

Teams in Mississippi and Vanderbilt will never be covered again on TV unless playing one of the big 6 on an off weekend of more important games. Thats how I read it.

CBS has lost the exclusive rights for the 3:30 time slot though.

So there will be a 3:30 SEC Network game each week as well I believe
