The Big 12 showed their lack of knowledge by bringing in West Virginia. They would have been better off bringing in BYU if they wanted a team that far away. The team that the Big 12 should have brought in was Louisville. Decent football team that would have benefited from some Texas recruiting and a very good basketball team to compete with kansas. TCU brings nothing and is horrible in basketball. If you don't bring in BYU then Cincinnati would have been a much better fit compared to the TCU/WV.

I think they just took what they could easily aquire to plug the holes in the dam. After Mizzou left on aTm's heels, about all the stability in the conference was gone. Who they should have got is all speculation. Those teams may not have wanted to come. Then you also have to throw in the problems of teams being able to leave thier respective conferences. WV just about couldn't get out. Thats what makes the SEC special. I don't think there is any exiting fee like Mizzou had to negotiate to get out of the Bevo-12. They still have room to add a couple more teams which I think will happen at some point in the near future. The biggest mistake that was made is forming the big12. It should have stayed the big8 or big6. I can understand where the SEC fans are comming from with all this expansion. I understand why they would rather leave it the way it was years ago. It can get way too big.

All that aside, I'm glad Mizzou took the leap but yet understand where the true SEC fans are comming from with the expansion. In ways I think it was good as long as the SEC doesn;t try to change it's identity like the big 12 did.

Louisville and Cincy very much wanted to come to the Big 12. Louisville got lucky that ACC lost 2 to the Big.
