One of the highest admissions standards in the US plus limited degree offerings means ANY coach for this team is going to face a major challenge in recruiting. Tech's administration is also a great deal tighter on granting exceptions than they were even as recently as Gailey. Stanford, Notre Dame, and other "rigorous academic" schools may have similar admissions standards, but they also have more diverse degree offerings AND more academic exceptions for their SA's.

This is true to a point. While Stanford and Notre Dame offer more liberal arts type majors, tech offers the typical football majors too. Business, history, psychology, int affairs, and public policy. The only one really missing from the football player major list is sociology. Stanford players have to be AP students in high school. That's an admission requirement they cannot get around. Is that a requirement for Tech?

This is a good solid thread even while starting as a moderate trolling attempt.

The lying is solid from both sides and I about spit my coffee on the 'puter when I saw some lilting dolt say something I never thought I would ever hear, I miss Chan Gailey.

Thank God you weren't a Troy State fan/player.

Did he still shout "Sweet Old Bob" on the sidelines instead of sob?

Coaches got fined for cursing and players ran laps at TS under for such serious infractions as cursing on the field.

Mom loved him for it.

On another note:

Why didn't the kid from Camden County go to Tech last year they run the Wing T? I hear he is having trouble converting from that boat anchor scheme.

AP classes aren't that big of a deal. I took four my senior year. They only matter if you pay to take and then pass the AP tests to earn the college credit.

As to the "football majors" point, how many history majors do you know if have to take two semesters of calculus? Look at Tech's core requirements and you'll see the holes in that argument.

Trust me, you aren't raising any points that most Tech fans haven't already beaten to death.

Yea but your point was implying that football players can't take regular majors. They can, it just comes with calculus.

I see, it seems the butthurt over here about wanting to fire CMR has gotten quite bad. Subconsciously, however, you know that Georgia will never fire him and that you are doomed to continue to watch 5 star talent lose to each and every top 10 (read: SEC) team that ventures an effort toward that end. And so, it seems, with little aside from football to live for, you feel the need to project your fantasy of coach-firing-into-greatness onto your 'little brother'. Hmmm, very disturbing, yes...

Take two of these and don't call me in the morning:

Chanting 'SEC, SEC, SEC' a few times in the shower each morning may also help, as would actually beginning to shower and observe other traits of basic hygiene each morning for many of you. Take care not to lose a game around Thanksgiving, though, or these might not be strong enough.

I realize you're trolling and you don't care about facts.

We may finish unranked we may not. But it will definitely be the 5th straight and 12/13.

I do care about facts, and I was wrong, despite the large number of under achievements Georgia has managed to produce recently. But I'm sure another win over Tech will be a fine consolation prize for a team with perennial top recruiting from the best conference in the land with twice the athletics budget, ten times the fans, and half the academic restrictions when we end up with more or less the same final record and find ourselves in equally meaningless bowls. Then you guys can crow "Paul Johnson isn't maximizing Tech's potential! They could be a great team if they wanted to!" with true irony.

More fantasy life here. UGA fans wish it was in any way hard to point out how embarrassing their team's performance has been given the riches they enjoy. With all the crying you guys constantly do about your own coach, it's funny to think you'd even argue. But then again, far be it from a Tech fan to respect the intelligence of a rival. I suppose this is a small lesson in why.

I'm not embarrassed by this season. I know that we have a really strong team without having 13 players injured. Everyone can see that. I'm proud of the way we've fought back as well.

Again. You're trying too hard

A really strong team that gave Vanderbilt its only SEC win.

Now it's you who is trying too hard.

You're gonna jinx it saying things like that.

Tech does have a good defense (two shutouts, among all the other stats mentioned), while ours has been awfully mediocre so far. Plus, in a season where injuries have defined our potential, nothing is a sure bet. One hit to Gurley or Murray and Tech's chances at home go way up IMHO.

Ok. Stanford is a great school, but they still have some majors to park athletes. Some if their degree programs are actually pretty easy. GT doesn't.

You're welcome.

Arguing who Stanford of the South is? Vandy is.

Props for them defeating UGA and FLA first time ever same season.

And why don't y'all get some of those Asians at GT to play? I'd like to see more Asians. Especially cheerleading. Mmmmmm Asian cheerleaders.
