Why was Tyler Russell not put into the game

I think it is pretty clear that we needed to make a change at QB after the second Int and we cant score in the second half to save our lives. Mullen has a lot of problems but adjustments is by far the biggest.

Mullen probably did Tyler a favor by not playing him. He holds the ball way too long, which means Clowney might have literally killed him.

Mullen said in presser he didn't put TR in due to ankle injury from previous week.
Saw the same last year when TR threw 4 INTs against Northwestern and he stayed with TR.
The only possible difference I could see is if TR truly was unable to play, the fear might have been if he put Damian in, USCe might have ran up the score and lowered Damian's confidence.

This was the most mad I've ever been at a sporting event, and I was sober.

I do agree that Tyler holds the ball to long but I would rather a sack than an Int.

As much as most hate to admit it. Dak is our QB. Tyler's been here from the beginning and I understand he has paid his dues, but he just doesn't fit into our system.
Yes, Dak threw 4 INT's, but if you were watching the game, only about 1 of them was his fault. On top of that, we got beat by 18 while going -5 in the turnover margin. We should have been beaten by 40 considering our defense was playing with a short field at their backs the whole time.

Yeah I was extremely happy with how well the defense played, all things considered. It could have been a much bigger blowout. Take away the points from the TOs and we have a ball game.

I have heard on here sooo many time that he holds it too long. That Dak won't and does nt and isn't sacked... etc etc etc..
Well, here we are, he's taking sacks, turning the ball over.. etc. Announcers talking about him holding the ball to long.
We are having to throw screens and very short passes too.
Fact is we have never had a QB issue. Russell was not the problem. Lack of a run game was.
I hate it for Russell, but he was screwed this season all for the sake of buying Mullen time with fans. Mullen needs to go before he depletes the talent pool.

Say huh????? How many batted balls has he had? Come on now.
Let's seriously think for once around here. I'm on record and stand by what I said. Against teams with a pulse and ranked, Dak is horrible. He was only 46% in passing until this game. This game Mullen decided to force him to throw early and most were little screens out.... very HIGH percentage passes and he still thew it to the wrong shoulder sometimes.
Russell was healthy and brought us back from behind, down 21-9 and was benched after leading the team back to the lead of 23-21.
Mullen is feeling the heat, and he has no clue as what to do at this point. It's showing on the field when we can't even line up.
For Dak's sake (who contrary to belief here I actually like) Mullen needs to go and we need somebody to come in and train his arm and accuracy! Or we are going to see a steady down fall over the next 2 years.

Our offense has always been a bunch of crappy screens.

LSU game.... Russell.... nough said.
We can throw deeper passes and if we had a coach who knew what to do, we can beat the fricking pass rush too....

LSU game was Russell's best game by far, and not a good example of what is a standard of offense at MSU.

But Mullen did what he should have been doing... Making Russell run some. Go back and watch what opened up Wilson. Watch the safety. He bit on the fake run of....Russell. Why? Because he had a few good runs.
Our best option to win, is for that to happen.
Now if Dak is in, he is going to have to pass in the first half to keep defenses from going after his run. He also has to be successful early on.
So far, Dak hasn't been able to do so against ranked teams and teams with a pulse.
Mullen must go.

Our best option to win is with Dak in running a balanced read option offense with a heavy dose of screens and the occasional play action deep ball.
This isn't Houston, Russell isn't Case Keenum, and we don't play shitty secondary's after SEC play begins. I think you forget we are Mississippi State.
Our receivers aren't as good as the cornerbacks on the other side of the ball when it comes to route running, getting jump balls etc. Therefore we get a high completion screen to Jameon (who has been our only playmaker all year besides Dak), get him into the open field and watch him juke half the secondary.

Darkhorse I agree that I think Tyler is our best option. Not that I dont like Dak and I think he should be playing, I just think if I were a D Coord. I would be loading the box up and playing man coverage to make him beat me with is arm. Where Tyler has experience, he can change the play at the line and we have good RB's, so we dont have to have a running QB. I also think Tyler and Dak should both be out there at the same time. Both behind the center and both running up to the line as if they were changing the play but really there just trying to confuse the D. If they both played at the same time we could run or pass.

It doesn't freakin matter anymore, we suck big ol dicks. It really doesn't matter who plays anymore.

I have been saying that for a long time. Since last year.

It does. We need 2 more wins.... Though I'm close to the point that I want losses to change things up.
