Everyone is complaining about the play of 2013 team and believe me...it is painful to watch. Its time to look at the gametape of the WLOCP and see where I think some of our shortcomings were.

1) not our fault...but putting Gurley on the field was HUGE for UGA and I'll explain why. No...its not his tackle breaking runs...which is enough on its own...but its his presense on the field which tilted everything in the dawgs favor...why you ask? Simple. We could not pass rush UGA because of the threat of # 3 busting runs against us. UGA was smart and used our aggression against us during their first series and later in first half...Fowler kept crashing inside to stop Gurley and it left Murray, a not so fleeted qb, enough room on the left side to run and sign autographs.
When Gurley was out...we were much better at pressuring Murray.

2) our blitz package early on was a mistake..we tried sending LBs Taylor and Morrison at times to pressure Murray...they would hit the gaps and leave the middle of the field WIDE open and every qb loves a clean sight downfield and he connected with TEs over and over. I was screaming to my stepson that we need to send corner/safety blitzs and of course we did get safety out of that later on. If you noticed...Murray was less successful in second half when we dropped LBs back and helped our secondary.

3)Offense...so much to look at. I will relay this though: watch the USC-Mizzou game and you will see how to attack an aggressive defense on third and longs (which was was way way too often). Spurrier used the "jailhouse break" type of screen play to beat Mizzou. It was used over and over on long yardage....a play where their rb (Davis)fakes block...OL releases and forms a wall to spring him loose...Davis actually catches the ball near the line or behind it in the MIDDLE of the field...but broke several 15-25 yd plays out of it. We do NOT use a rb screen and its puzzling.

4) Memo to Pease: Murphy is limited in abilities and he is NOT an option qb and does not know how/when/where to pitch the ball....mostly pitching out way way too early. Faking the pitch might work? ...that way the DE will go for the rb and Murphy might get a few yds? ANYTHING is better than what we are seeing.

5) I was glad to see Moore come out after a false start...whether he was injured (hope not)or coaches had enough (hope so)...Silberman was inserted and we did function slightly better. Halapio is a seasoned veteran and to see him have his lunch money take away is crazy. Trenton is a huge dude and will get better...he is raw right now. Max Garcia and Jon Harrison are our two best OL right now and I don't recall seeing Koehne out there and he is probably one of the walking wounded.

Could go on and on...but there is plenty of blame sandwich for our horrible first half. I know one thing...Muschamp's practices must be too intense when we have had so many injuries during the weekdays...lets ease up a bit so we can have some players available to play on Saturday?
