For example, the new Evil Dead was awesome and was very much a solid stand alone movie. Regardless, the original Evil Dead is a cult classic and still trumps the new version.

That's about it.

The only real answer here for a good horror remake is Savini's Night of the Living Dead.

The original Texas Chainsaw is still one of the greatest horror movies of all time. No debate.

It's a work of cinematic art.

I totally agree with this. But for viewing pleasure, I prefer this version

Did you know Kubrick's adaptation totally changed Kings novel in an effort to admit his involvement with the Apollo program?

Once it's shown to you it's not even debatable, it's a clear admission.

There's a horrible documentary called Room 237 that explains the meaning, but there is a much better one by the Kubrick guru Jay Weidner.

Sleepy,

Anyone who believes that Kubrick filmed the moon landings, or for that matter, that the moon landings never happened is a tin foil hat weirdo.

However, this image makes for good discussion:

I would not call it a horror movie but the first Paranormal Activity movie made me a little uneasy.

I enjoyed seeing the first one in theaters when it came out.

As for favorite I'd have to go with The Exorcist. Halloween is up there as well. My guilty pleasure "horror" movie right now is Trick 'r Treat.

Heard a synopsis of it and decided it was terrible because it changed some stuff from the book.

Great horror novel, though. It got into my head a time or two.
I've seen both Shining movies and read the book. Both the book and original movie were awesome. The remake a few years ago was a closer adaptation. Can't wait to read King's new book, Doctor Sleep. Supposed to be about Danny as an adult.

The Shining is best horror movie in my opinion. Nicholson does a great job in it.

In terms of cinematic quality, I don't see how anything but the Shining can be mentioned as GOAT

I'm not going to hurt you. Wendy, darling, light of my life. I'm not going to hurt you, you didn't let me finish my sentence. I said I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just going to bash your brains in. I'm going to bash them right the frick in.

It was one of the best but I still say Halloween was #1 for me. It is the definition of a horror movie...

There are a ton of things from that movie that indicate it was a confession. Just a free bee, what room was that boy walking to in that scene? Not the same room number as in the book, but mysteriously the same room number as miles from earth to the moon.

The typewriter scene that says "A11 work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Instead of 'Ls" it's ones, as in Apollo 11. There are literally hundreds of things in that movie that elude to a confession.

Lets not forget that Kubrick was murdered later in his life when he made Eyes Wide Shut (the ultimate illuminati movie). He was killed after showing the movie to the studio executives, they drastically edited the movie after the murder and released a very different movie from the one Kubrick originally made.

Also, just because some moon footage was faked doesn't mean we never went there. It's wrong to assume I don't think we went to the moon because I believe Kubrick did film some footage here in a studio.
