I bet Morrison can't wait to get out of Gainesville, whenever that may be, but please, please, please, walk a day in his shoes.

A warning should have been suffice even if the kid is simply a huge freaking moron for doing that. it amazes me how dumb these kids are

Just read pretty much the same article on yahoo sports.
I know that in the grand scheme of things, one guy being "overcharged" is not all that big of a deal, but for whatever reason, this particular story made my blood absolutely boil.
Want to know why more and more people - even so called "conservatives" like myself - hate the police? It's cause of chit like this.
To some dumbass cop, overcharging someone and dragging them off to jail is no big deal. I guess they figure "yeah, I can make a mistake/be an a-hole" whatever, and the court system will straighten it out.
Screw that. It's a huge freaking deal when someone gets arrested. You want the general populace to respect you? How bout start with demonstrating respectable qualities.

In Gainesville, asking the officer to not arrest you is considered resisting arrest. Also, you will be arrested for throwing a sandwich inside a Jimmie Johns... but only if you are a black male athlete.

I'm really surprised that ANYONE in authority actually had the balls to say his charges were a little strong. I guess that's a start, but dang man.
This has similarities to the Jeremy Hill situation in that a kids education, possible future livelihood, integrity (and I'm sure a bunch of other attributes) are being jeopardized NOT by the fact that the guy(s) are a bunch of hardened criminals, but rather, by the fact that they are stupid 19 year olds that happen to make the worse mistakes of their lives while someone happened to be watching.
In Morrison's case, the police happen to be watching a little too closely on the heels of him fighting a bouncer. In Hill's case, the court happened to be watching on the heals of him getting a bj while in high school.
People's futures shouldn't pawned like that over political correctness, overzealous policing, or other unnecessary elements of our current society.
I don't know Morrison or Hill personally. Based STRICTLY ON MY ADMITTED CATEGORIZATION of athlete's (I don't even know what color Morrison is, so it really is just "athletes" and not skin color), something tells me that both of them have a better chance of making millions on the football field as opposed to becoming NASA engineers. And with that being said, I really don't appreciate some Baton Rouge or Gainesville jerknuts cop kinda screwing that up.

In all seriousness, those cops got rejection letters from UF and graduated from f$u. It's the only way they can beat us....
Cops usually have a douchebag degree already accompanied by having little man personality. They bark like chihuahuas all their lives, but no one listens. So instead of fighting enemies overseas, they turn their guns on we, the civilian body.
tldr: frick the po po.

Doubt they are as bad as Athens and Gainesville.
Thankfully, I haven't run into problems with the GPD while at UF.

Frickin boy scouts with badges. Made fun of and beat up growing up for wearing those scarves and now, given an ounce of authority, they abuse it. Gonna get back at society that made fun of them all those years.
Spot on about little man syndrome.

"I'm a good kid officer"
I wonder how many cops have heard that from the backseat of their cruiser. I doubt this cop know he was an athlete. Just pissed this kid dissed his dog. Shouldn't have been arrested IMO. Petty bullshite.

I wouldn't have wasted my time on the arrest paperwork for that bullshite. "ATM" Ask, Tell, Make.
"Do me a favor and stay away from my dog. He gets ramped up easily."
"Leave the dog alone"
"You're under arrest, Eintein"

Hasn't everyone seen Half Baked?
We should all know not to mess with police animals, its not a fricking mystery.
