This also assumes that JFF was not responsible for getting the team in position to score. How do we know that Cam and Tim didn't just rack up a bunch of TDs in garbage time?

Did you watch Auburn in 2010? There was never garbage time in our SEC games outside of maybe Ole Miss and the SECCG.

ETA: And he came out once the SECCG got out of hand.

All of which could indicate that Cam was NOT a good quarterback because he let his teams get into a shootout and got behind. That could indicate that he couldn't seal the deal early, meaning he was less effective. Could it not?

Go back and watch our games that season. The idea that it was his fault the secondary couldn't stop the passing attack in any game all year long is hilarious. He kept us in games with his ability and leadership.

Do you really think it's fair to compare a QB with only 1 year under his belt (JFF) to the Tebows/Newtons of the world?

If you compare each based solely on their first year, then it's JFF hands down - no question.

Considering Manziel has played only one season of college ball, is it fair to even include him in this discussion?

JFF was a redshirt correct?

So you could compare each in there first season as starter to be fair if you wanted to.

Yeah, I agree. I was pointing out that stand-alone stats (number of TDs for example) is bullshite. So is the "championship ring" argument, which was the reason for that comment you quoted.

By the same logic, JFF kept us in games with his ability and leadership. Shitty play calling/lack of adjustments in the Florida game and a shitty kicker in the LSU game cost us a shot at a conference and national championship.

jesus the TD stat was great b/c johnny only played great against bama. cam and tim did it against the best and lost less games. now if i were an a&m fan i'd be happy with what that suggests about improvement for '13 rather than an argument based on ignoring that last year (the only year manziel played) he got shut down in the 2nd half against uf and lsu. if he'd play any good east teams this year, his stats would again be hurt.

How does the TD stat prove that Johnny played great against Bama?

How does the TD stat show that Cam and Tim played better against better competition? Couldn't it also prove that the competition was weaker because they were able to score more TDs on those weak-arse defenses?

Which is what we have been arguing, but said argument has been falling on deaf ears. We've been getting the "emotional let-down" argument and the "figured JFF out" argument in response.

Possibly, but that only proves the point even further. Single stats are bullshite.

See how point 1 proves point 2.

Except that Cam Newton carried a team, that was worse that the team Johnny Manziel played on in 2012, to the National Championship.

Nick Fairley and a kicked that didn't miss 7 extra points disagree with you.

I am working really hard on my tolerance. I am practicing my patience in trying to carefully explaining my logic and not allowing myself to get so irritated that I spiral into a flame fest of #3TDs@BR@NITE and rotflmao responses.

I'm sigging this if we win, even if it's by 1 point

And I posted early in the thread, went to sleep, woke up, drive an hour out of town, and this thing hasn't died down yet wow lol.

I obviously know that it's highly unlikely that we win by that much (if at all). It was just my outlet when some LSU fans refuse to even contemplate any attempt at logic.

I am working on that in this thread. It's therapeutic.
