Ole Miss has self-reported an NCAA violation after a freshman walkon played in six games last fall while, without the school’s knowledge

The ole MSU defense.

As a result, Davis will be forced to sit out six games of the 2013 season while also missing select practice time, an Ole Miss spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

So there is a penalty for one player.

Since when did OM start self reporting?

Carlos Davis made one tackle during the Egg Bowl.

So...forfeit? Seems fair.

@kyleveazey: I didn't lead with the ineligible player. He was a walk-on, you know. I led with a funnier story from one of the violations.

Other than Clowney and Manziel, I can't think of a player who impressed me more last season.

That walkon made us quit. Just his presence on the coverage team destroyed our heart. Davis may be the best cover man I have ever seen. He's like the Derrick Rose of kickoff coverage.

Ole Miss is lucky this guy will get to play some this year. It will take pressure off Robert Nmgeechbuyavowel when Davis gets back.

Didn't this player jump 10-12 points on ACT? If so, the University of Ole Miss must be the Harvard of the South. Most folks couldn't get that big of a jump by staying in a Holiday Inn Express the night before the ACT.
