I said it was good for the STATE of Mississippi. By drawing positive attention to the state, no matter which school, could actually help all in state schools. There is no reason both State and Ole Miss cannot both be very successful. I guess I have a different perspective because I have not lived in MS since 1980 due to job transfers.

Truthfully, I wish that the media would stay as far away from Starkville as humanly possible.

That's interesting, because I haven't lived in Mississippi for most of my adult life and my perspective is completely the opposite of yours.
I don't think OM or State winning the CWS is all that good for the State of Mississippi, because I've observed that, outside of fans of the teams actually playing in, it nobody really gives a damn about the College World Series. You talk about "drawing positive attention to the state" as if there will be that much attention drawn to it in the first place.
How likely do you think it is that a random stranger in wherever you live could tell you who won the last College World Series? Now how likely do you think it is that he or she could tell you who won the last BCS championship?
Look, I'm happy for y'all, but you're deluding yourselves into thinking that this is some sort of significant milestone achievement in college athletics. It's about as significant as a natty in women's basketball or ice hockey. As far as college sports go in terms of national exposure, brand recognition, and revenue generation there's football, men's basketball, then everything else, and the everything else is way, way behind the other two.
So, no, I'm not cheering for State, nor am I cheering against State. I just don't give a shite.
