We are a nation divided over mayonnaise.

That's because of the great hoarding that took place in College Station, circa 2012.

Who the frick says "you all"?

Also, somewhat unrelated, this really shows the cultural divide of NoVa from the rest of Virginia

Love how our "generic name" for a carbonated beverage in the South is a "coke."

Western Arkansas raised here:

Crawdad. (Plains)

BOO-wie knife. (Texas)

Devil is beating his wife. (La & Miss)

Coke

Y'all

etc...

There is a noticeable divide running between NW and SE Arkansas on most of those. Row crop folks vs Cowboy/hill folks.

I need a ruling on pecan. The map is all over the place on that one. I pronounce it pick-AHN. My wife says PEE-kahn and I have heard people here pronounce it PEE-can.

How do y'all pronounce it?

Meh, I prefer to look at the South from a religion standpoint...religion is much more indicative of "culture" than anything

This is actually very interesting and kinda funny. I call tennis shoes Kicks, and I say craw- fish and I call a traffic circle just a circle.

This stuff is pretty lame..

Just the other day the 'Waffle House" thread 'proved' that Missouri was southernish.

Southern? Northern? Midwestern? All three? None?

NOBODY knows what culture Missouri is, but its provocative. It gets the people going!

The "sear-up" vs. "sir-up" map and "sneakers" vs. "tennis shoes" maps surprise me. I thought both would be far more split than they were. I say "sear-up" and "sneakers."
