Seriously thinking about moving to Oxford. My wife is an OM grad from the 90s. Couple of kids. She is all for it. Loves the idea of a small town atmosphere with all the benefits of a college town.

I also like the idea. We own an internet based business and we can live anywhere in the world, so that's not an issue. Just wanted to get feedback and opinions from other people in the 40-year old range. What do you think of Oxford as a place to raise kids and maybe retire after they are gone?

Also, do you guys know many students from Oxford who stayed to go to OM? If so, what did they think of growing up there?

The only concern you may have with your kids growing up in Oxford is that it's kind of a drug hub. School district is awesome and I am very envious of you.

Only real problem I could see with living in Oxford is traffic on game weekends and the occasional interaction with a really drunk college student.
Other than that I can't think of one reason to not live here. If I could get a well paying job in this town, I may never leave. It's almost a perfect town to settle down and raise a family.

I know a lot of people from Oxford and Lafayette and most of them ended up at ole miss either after high school or jc. There were only a few that I knew that wanted to get away for college. I'd love to end up in Oxford eventually. And Oxford has either just built or is in the process of building new schools

Moved back 9 years ago and LOVE it. There is always something to do in this town. The schools here are some of the best in the state. The arts, food, and music scene here is amazing. Its very family friendly but you can still go out and have fun. What's not to love? I'm 37 now and there a plenty of people my age and older that I hang out with. Do it now while the real estate is low.

I would recommend moving to Mound Bayou..or Itta Bena if you would prefer the college town experience.

I grew up in Oxford, public schools are awesome and I never came across any trouble. It is absolutely perfect and I honestly trust the town.
