Sources close to Texas A&M chancellor John Sharp and Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst tell Texas Monthly that the University of Texas and Texas A&M are on the verge of signing a ten-year contract with ESPN's pending SEC Network, as well as the Longhorn Network, to play football once again.

To further highlight the new spirit of cooperation between the two teams, Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has agreed to play 10 snaps for the Longhorns as a safety. The Aggies QB has also agreed to take UT offensive coordinator Major Applewhite out to a few student bars after the game.

Why would anyone outside of Texas give two shats about this?

Why popcorn this?
Seriously it may come as a surprise to you rednecks but no collective fanbase on here gives one half a piece of dog crap about that rivalry or the state of TX in general.

I kinda care. If Texas is letting themselves play aTm, maybe kansas' leash has been let out enough to play us.
God knows we need the football wins.
If this is an April Fools joke that I've like a day late on, you can frick yourself.

You are in the SEC now. Time to let go of the bibs and pick up the aprons. Time to recruit a defense and quit picking on Iowa State and Baylor. Are ya'll not excited to be in the SEC and out of the little 12 or what?

Very excited to be in the SEC, even proud when I meet other people. I'm happy to be a part.
Not willing to throw that rivalry shite away though, and all the yankee criticism and not belonging shite will never change that. You don't turn in over 100 years of rivalry, ever. No matter how good it is otherwise.
We'll just build it in to the other OOC SEC rivalries.

Not sure why this isn't planned for all the rivalries when breaking away from a conference. I think its meant to be extra incentive to stay and if they leave then it's just a disciplinary action or something.

It's kind of a new problem. It was originally held over our head because we were jumping from a sinking ship. The Big 12 was absolutely a sinking ship when we jumped. They held it up as a way for us to stay. The Big 12 (texas led) media blitz over Mizzou leaving the Big 12 destroying the Kansas City economy was huge.
I think it was them trying to keep us around. Now, I think it's them not trying to admit they (kU/Texas/Big 12) were wrong and that they (kU) really want it to survive, but not stepping back from their initial position.
The kU/MU rivalry created this great atmosphere in the KC metro area, they said it would disappear if we left. It's pretty obvious we both want it to continue, but for them to say they'd play us again would be admitting they were wrong. The Deloss/Texas led rebellion against Mizzou has failed, and it just takes a while for them to realize it. If Texas and aTm are playing (which was a similar situation) it makes it more likely to happen.
It will take a while.
That being said, is this Texas/Aggie game thing an April fools thing, or what?
