Heading over there for work this week. In my mid 20s, any suggestions on anything to do at night.

Nothing. I was just there and considered having a bus protes just to do something

Downtown has a few bars, but the cops literally wait outside for people to leave.

Pick up some beer.
Return to hotel.
Drink in your room and watch TV and get on the internet.
That's about your best option.

There's a downtown area that's really nice with a brick oven pizza place and some cool bars. It's right by the river.
That's the one.

Good pizza at this place. Nice bunch of bars and restaurants around it. Sa Za
That's the one.

don't listen to these fools
montgomery sucks, no doubt, but so does pretty much every other city in alabama
go downtown and bar hop. eat at some good restaurants, one person said sa za's which is great. wintzell's is good. there is a really good pizza place pretty close to downtown called tomatinos. awesome pizza
but yea, there isn't much else to do. but you won't be getting shot. not really even sure where a lot of those comments come from

The Alley is the correct answer. It's the only place in MGM where it's legal for you to walk from bar to bar with a drink in your hand.
If you're a true night owl, the after hours bar is Sous La Terre a couple of blocks away.
There's also an Irish pub that just opened a couple of weeks ago. It's over on Dexter a few blocks from the Alley.
Where are you staying, and what area of town are you working in? That will probably affect where you want to go.

If you are by Eastchase, I'd recommend the Tipping Point. The Cloverdale area has some good stuff (Tomatinos, 1048, Leroy). If you are a night owl, go to Sous La Terre. Doesn't open til after midnight. Music will start around 1-2 AM.
Forgot about the new Irish Bred Pub downtown. Recently opened. Haven't been there, so no idea how it is.

There was an okay brew pub down by the baseball park. Don't know if it's still open. There was a good dive titty bar in Prattville, but the authorities shut it down, which really was a shame.
Other than that, the best thing to do in Montgomery is leave before you get shot, robbed, or both. I'm not kidding. That town sucks donkey balls.
ETA: Almost forgot, there's this.

There are some really great restaurants and hotels where I-65 and the southern bypass meet. Crack is plentiful and so are the women.
Seriously, if you are staying at EastChase, I would recommend hanging in that area if you are drinking. If you have the cash for a cab, the downtown area where the Alley is located is pretty cool. And the Pizza place down there is the shite. And even though where you are staying is a "safe" area, make sure you don't leave anything that remotely looks valuable in your car. Last time I stayed there (Auburn vs LSU), LSU guy got his window smashed in and his wife's briefcase stolen.
