I thought this was about his off the field stuff so I wasn't going to post that b.s. (we've been through that 1k times - leave the kid alone, we all make mistakes) but this has to do with on the field performance.

Can't believe he was the 12th ranked QB in the SEC (out of 14) there were some real stinkers ranked above him. I thought he played better than that ranking. AJ was #1 and I thought they were pretty equal when LSU played Bama (except for the final drive). Did he not play as well in other games?

He was hyped up way too much for someone who's only experience at the SEC level was a spring game at UGA.

He was a humongous improvement over Jefferson as far as passing, but didn't put up the best stats because the coaches only let him really sling it in the Bama game and after. (Ignoring the abortion of the bowl game)

Do many people outside of the SEC really even know who he is? (not flaming) Just seems like even if the country had heard of him it's about 100 times less than JFF.

Mett and Murray were in the same class. Murray's first year looked alot like Mett's first year. Shitty.

Mett could be dangerous next year.

How much eligibility does he have left?

Mett was playing the game of his life, AJ had freshly broken ribs, and his two top WRs were hurt.

I'm entirely positive that no SEC team had more drops than LSU. His WRs were flat out terrible some games. He deserves some criticism sure, but the OL and WR corps were just bad at times.

I agree. He's talented, but he needs receivers to step up and not drop the short passes. The long ball needs to quit being overthrown also

He wasn't very good. Not sure why expectations are very high for him based on how he performed last season.

It's a shame Odell Beckham just fumbled the ball after a beautiful pass. Also a shame our defense, who played lights out, shite the bed on the last drive against Alabama. Or that our defense couldn't stop a damn team with their arse backed up to the wall from gaining 17 yards. It really is a shame because Mett would be the QB of an undefeated NC team right now.

Difficult to compare using a one game sample. How about you take all 13-14 games into account? When you do that…I think you will find that McCarron was consistently good, minus a game or two, while Mettenberger was consistently mediocre. That's why AJ McCarron was #1 in pass efficiency and Mettenberger was #12.

Do you actually watch college football or just Alabama?

Mett was average in Tiger Stadium, and awful away from home. I feel the only exception to this was the Bama game, where he was simply a great QB most of the game.

He averaged 152 yards (50% completion) totaling 3 TDs and 2 INTs away from home.

Mettenberger looked terrible outside of the Alabama game.

Mett has a lot of potential but didn't impress anyone too much save 1 and a half quarters of the Bama game.

Clemson and Arkansas games were pretty meh.

Hopefully last year was just a warmup for a great season in 2013.

Mettenberger is what happens when great talent meets bad circumstance and poor coaching. Miles, for all his abilities, is an absolutely awful developer of QB talent. And we all know about Mett's personal struggles in HS and at Georgia.

Well yes, doesn't one need to show they are good in order to be good?

Mett had a typical year for a 1st year starter in the SEC. But, if you watch the first half of the season and then the 2nd half it will look completely different. Night and day different. He improved a lot over the season and found his legs and rhythm. Also we do need our WRs to get some confidence back, especially Beckham.
