Interesting article compiling what players say they ran in HS vs. what they ran at this years combine. Did they improve? Did they get worse? Or were some lying to begin with. You be the judge...

PJ Lonergan pulled up lame at the 30 yard mark with a hamstring pull and still ran that 5.38. Doubt thats stated in the article.

It didn't say that in the article, but what is run is what is run in the eyes of scouts. He will have a chances to change that at the LSU pro day.

This one surprised me. He always seemed faster than that on the field. He must have football speed.

To be fair, some of the OL and DL put on up to 50 lbs since high school...

Chance Warmack actually getting faster after putting on a bunch of weight is impressive

Just shows that Chizik could coach them up and improve them...

Or it could mean that HS times mean NOTHING>.....

Meh

I can attest to the fact that both D.J. Swearenger and Devonte Holloman were big time track stars in high school, but yeah, after both of them put-on an additional forty pounds over their high school weight ... the scouts are not going to haggle over 2/10ths of a second at their positions.

I suspect the same holds true for a lot of the players on that list.

The variance in laser vs hand times has something to do with it too.

I would like to see reported playing height vs measured height at the combine. Probably lots of lying going on there.

I didn't think Swope was faster than Milliner.

I'm shocked Mingo ran the same time as Ace Sanders.

I was shocked too by the 40 time. I think that Ace just had excellent acceleration, so when he was returning punts, or catching balls in space he looked a lot faster than he was, b/c he got to his top speed in a shorter amount of time.

Maybe if they measured his 10 yard split and compared it, his speed would be impressive, but that 40 time at the compound probably hurt him more than helped.

Yeah I would have never thought of Swope as fast as McCaleb. They should have run a reverse or two with him. Not sure they didn't, but I never saw it.

His start/stop speed is amazing. That may be what most people see when watching him. Like I said he looks much faster than 4.5.
