You have 8 seconds to get the ball past the halfcourt line. The clock doesn't reset if the ball gets knocked out of bounds. Arkansas never gained possession of the ball when Qualls knocked it out. Vanderbilt took nearly 15 seconds to cross half court. The shotclock was at 20 when they crossed. Should have been a turnover. But then again, I'm not surprised the refs don't know the rules.

You have 10 seconds to get it across the half court line, if it gets knock out of bounds the time is reset.

You have 5 seconds when guarded to "do something" dribbling is "doing something" breaking a certain distance from a defender is "doing something" picking up your dribble is "doing something" passing is "doing something" all of these stops or resets your 5 second count.

You have 3 seconds to occupy the lane, exiting the lane resets the 3 second count, you can re-enter the lane once you exit to restart a 3 second count.

Now you know the rules.

/doesn't know rules of college basketball

You have ten seconds, and yes, the clock does reset after a timeout/stoppage in play. I don't like the rule either (it needs to be changed to the NBA rule), but .
