As much as I dislike Steven A. Smith he just laid it out. He's the first one I've heard just straight up call Te'o out.

What did Steven say?

I'm trying to catch up with this story right now. What is the deal with her calling him on 12/6 after she was supposed to be dead?

From wht I've read, Notre Dame and Te'o are claiming someone made her up and he fell for it. He apparently got a call around the time of one of the award shows from her number and whoever was on the phone sounded like her. The story as of now is someone played a cruel joke on him, and he fell in love with someone he never actually met or Skyped or even asked for a time stamped picture.

There is still some evidence that Te'o and a former high school teammate could have made her up and faked her death to gain a lot of media attention. For example, the story goes they met after a Stanford/Notre Dame game a couple of years ago, but now he's saying they just met online.

He is either the biggest douchebag in college football history or the biggest idiot for calling someone his girlfriend and that he loved her and all this stuff without even meeting or Skyping.

mind boggling is an understatement.

So, he received a call from his dead girlfriend on 12/6? How did this come out?

Well considering SAS, a lot.

Basically said, hey, your story doesn't add up. I'm not calling you a lier, but I don't buy it. And what are you and possibly Notre Dame covering up?

ETA: Also, called him out for faking "being in love." Said something like: she had a tumultuous time in her life and he was never there, yet he's never met her, but they did at a game? Then he tried to go all Jane Austin and talk about caressing a woman and hold her close and stuff.

Not only that, but according to the ND AD, the dead gf wanted to restart the relationship.

If he knew that it was all fake on 12/6, why did he let the media continue to play the sob story, and why did he go along with it?

I just can't fathom why someone would do this and carry it on for 3 years, other than for attention.

If it was truly a hoax, I do think he is a moron for falling for it. But at the same time, I almost feel sorry for him.

If he did create all of this for attention, he has some serious psychological issues.

Golic just spent 5 min saying that he met lots of girlfriends of players at tailgates and school functions because the girls went to St Marys across the river or to ND. Suggested he never met MT's gf because MT didnt go out much and that this was an online only thing. I kid you not.

Golic is simply the biggest mongoloid in sports.

Would you want that story to come out that your girlfriend wasn't real because you're full blown retarded?

Also if you can't believe someone would be so blatantly idiotic, watch a few episodes of Catfish on MTV. There are many, many people who fall in love with someone without ever meeting them or confirming that person is who they say they are.

What the frick?

The dumbfrick probably would have even more sympathy and attention if he would have come out right before the NC game and admitted that he just found out that it was all a hoax.

I think his dad had a lot to do with it. I think it's probably somewhere in the middle. Too many lies and the timing made the media story too perfect and worked to his benefit. Plus, if he was catfished for 3 years by his friend, that's just weird.

Not to mention, if he's "the perfect mark", and his dad is that media savvy, it seems like someone would have investigated the girlfriend before it got to that. You can't be a naive gullible person set to make millions and have all of those people sit by and let it happen.

Do you really think that show is 100% accurate, not staged? Its television, come on. Hell, even a some people think the movie was a mock documentatry and not the real deal.

The new trend in reality TV is real people in staged situations.

Exactly. I can't believe that no one in the media or his family tried to fact check some of this information.
