The coast of Mississippi is better than 90% of the state, the other 10% is Oxford and Vicksburg (only because my friend has a badass hunting camp there). Just my opinion though.

I should have put a Miss at the end.

the real question here is how hot is your closest related female cousin. If hot then ole miss if not then you'll be a state fan. Unfortunately either way you have to frick you cousin to be accepted by their fans.

I was not very impressed with the MS coast. The beaches are manmade and suck--there are no waves, I guess because of the barrier islands. The water is brown and ugly. There's really no reason to go to the beach unless you're a woman who wants to tan.
There's no centralized area for night life; all the casinos are spread out and it's kind of a pain in the arse to go from one bar to another. Ocean Springs was okay in this respect, but Biloxi and Gulfport were lame.
I was fresh out of college (the first time around) and there just weren't enough like-minded people my age around, or if there were, I never found them. Maybe if I had been there when I was ready to settle down with a family... nah it probably still would have sucked.
The best thing the area had going for it was proximity to NOLA and to actually good beaches in Florida, and food. The food was really good. It had influences from New Orleans, south Louisiana, southern culture in general, and of course it had access to fresh seafood.
It wasn't a terrible place to be for the time that I was there, but it's not a place I would ever settle long-term. I'm sure it's perfect for some people, but not for me. However, if I had to pick somewhere in MS, I'd probably pick the coast.

I will be moving to the Gulf Coast, however, so if both present yourselves as unacceptable alternatives I may just adopt Southern Miss.
I live in Hattiesburg, Southern Miss has the worst fans in America.
The coast is a fun place to live. Some friends of mine live there in ocean Springs and Biloxi.

Oh no doubt you have to have a boat to get past the islands for good fishing.

I've always wondered why Mississippi people said this. The coast isn't as trashy as say the Delta.

LSU is much closer to the Coast.
Hell, Auburn would be more convenient than those two schools in the middle of nowhere.

Link?
The Delta isn't so much trashy as it is ghetto. But that's only an isolated area of the bigger Delta towns. Granted some Delta towns are all ghetto but hey, some coastal towns are all trashy.
