I see this all the time on here. What does it mean? Where did it originate?

Never occurred to you that you could just do a Google search?

Aggies went off to fight in ww2 and the people in austin stayed home and sipped tea. Thats where it originated

Thought it had something to do with WWII (or some other war) and a lot of Aggies going to war while the UT alums stayed at home and sipped tea.

Way back when Texas folks were the elitists that typically were city kids that looked down on everyone. A&M had the rural kids and we were military and engineering focused. Thus the saying was that that the Texas folks were up in Austin "sipping their tea" while Aggies were out doing the real work. Thus "teasips" or "sips" evolved.

Of course now both schools are demographically far more similar but the primary cultural difference is the same. Texas is still generally a bunch of elitist assholes that think their shite doesn't stink and everyone should bow before them. Aggies are still generally tied to our roots as well.

The truth is that 90% of the UT student body and 90% of the A&M student body are exactly the same. Same origins, same outlook, same aptitude. Both schools are defined to some extent by the 10% that is stereotypical of each school. 10% of the UT student population are either Borg-like Asians or hipster commies with drum circles and Toms shoes who worship Obama. 10% of the A&M student population are huge dorks who wear painted overalls to games or enormous rednecks who chew tobacco in class, drive lifted diesels, and worship Reagan.

During war time they were nothing but a bunch of American flag burning, draft card burning pooosays.

Aggies went to war, Texas University students ( that's what the name was before they change it) stayed home and sipped tea.
