Obviously we likely won't win barring a an upset, so what does State need to do in their performance against Bama in Ttown to earn respect as a good team?

MSU has to leave it all on the field, win or lose. Play hard and show no fear.

Keeping it closer than 20 points would be a good start. And over 250 yards of offense.

If we pull off an upset, it will be considered by many a fluke. If we lose, it was expected.

I just don't feel like we are going to be given any respect....we are going to have to take it.

I don't know if it's so much Bama, but you have to win games against ranked teams and do it for 3-4 years in a row. One year of 9-3 losing 3 games to the only ranked teams you play isn't quite "there yet". You can certainly only beat the teams on your schedule, but you have to maintain 9-10 wins a year and pull off some upsets over the course of several years to get respect.

Keep in mind, this is the SEC rant. Even undefeated National Champions get knocked for something. You will never get everyone's respect.

After your quarterback stands there with the ball and has no clue the rush is coming and he gets clobbered into another dimension, if you find all his body parts and gear in a timely manner that would pretty much do it for me.

Miss State already has my respect. They have a really good team this year--a great coach and a great defense.

Your program has had my respect since 1980

a few of your fans drive me batshit but that is the norm I do believe.

It's all about the eye test. MSU could win and look overmatched doing it, by getting some very lucky big plays. Then you'll have people saying, "if this or if that" and you won't get a lot of respect.

But if MSU looks competitive all game, and goes punch for punch with Alabama for four quarters, even if they lose by more than 10 points, most will respect that.

Even then, not everyone will. Even if you punch them in the mouth and win, similar to ridiculous LSU fans with Florida, there will be some excuse as to why it wasn't that impressive.

Score more than 10 points and finish the game within two scores of Alabama. Both marks would be the best Mississippi State has done against Alabama since 2007.

Not be defeated before they step on the field. If this post is any indication, may have to wait until next year at the earliest.
