Malzahn's spread was a little different than most. A lot of our players could probably play in both styles. But we don't really know quite what type of offense Loeffler runs. It's supposed to be more pro style with elements of the spread in it. Until we see the offense we don't really know.

In "toss up" games of 8 points or less, Chizik has won 11 straight games. That is unprecedented "luck" in the history of college football. Even the greatest coaches in the history of the game have this number migrate toward .500 over their entire careers. Maybe his teams get better and there aren't as many nailbiters, but if there are, at some point he will start losing these games...

Chizik is 12-3 over his Auburn career in games decide by 8pts or less.
Saban is 10-9 over his Alabama career...
Spurrier is 20-16 over his USCe career....

A stupid article from a pathetic excuse for a sports writer.

The vast majority of those games saw Cam Newton in the QB spot. That helps out a lot.

Does Auburn have more money than Oklahoma?
Kansas State?
Arizona?
North Carolina?

Because all of those schools recruited Cam as well, and reported no improprieties.

Basically, you can't count AU's wins with Cam Newton because he was...good.

So the excuses for Chizik's 30-10 record are:
Cam
Malzahn
Extreme amount of good luck
Fairley
Dyer
There's probably more that I'm not thinking of.

7 of 15 so Chiz is 5-3 in the others.

Going 8-5 with the youth AU put on the field last year is all I need to know about Chizik.

Cam Newton is the main reason for 2010. That's not taking anything away from the season. You went 14-0, you won the national championship, but you wouldn't have won 9 games in '10 without him. Can you honestly sit there and say with a straight face that that team would have been a national title contender with Barrett Trotter at the QB spot?

Nobody has ever said that. What we have said though, is we would not have been a national title contender without the Offensive Line. We would not have been a national title contender without Fairley. We would not have been a national title contender without several others. We all realize Cam was the most vital to '10. What is flawed though are the posters who say "Cam is the only reason y'all won a MNC". No, he's not the only reason, but he is one of many.

We would not have won a title without Wes Byrum.

The point remains, even though Chizik went undefeated and won it all only two years ago, he's still got a lot to prove.

Fortunaely for him the AU fanbase is one of the most patient fanbases in the country. They waited 50+ years for a National Championship. Chizik has plenty of time to prove his coaching ability. With these new hires, I think he gets it done.

Were one of the most patient. We had a taste, and now we want more. It was a catch-22 for him.

He doesn't have plenty of time if he continually loses to AU's biggest rivals.

This is the caption under the pic. This guy is good...really good. According to him, we played 26 games last season...no wonder we're so beat down.

He has already proved to me that he is a very good HC and the right fit for the job at AU.

Maybe he does have more to prove in terms of wins and losses to the rest of the world. Good thing for him and AU is he is stockpiling the horses to do just that and it is coming soon. 2013 and 2014, AU will be able to beat any team they line up against and will win 10+ both years and probably contend for a NC one of those years. Probabably 2014 with the favorable home schedule again but maybe 2013 as well.

The sporting news hates AU. They were the biggest hacks of all with the Cam smear campaign.
