It's an AND issue. It solves 4 teams' needs for rivalries as well as 6 teams who think it would be unfair to have to play teams like Alabama and LSU every single year.
Again, we're in the same conference vying for the same title making the same money. It's fair to rotate on an equal basis. It's not fair to have some teams not have to play everyone on the other side an equal amount as the other western division teams and vice versa. You want to keep your game? Go to the east or y'all take the 6-1-1 and allow everyone else to rotate. You can keep your rivalry and we can enjoy a fair remedy.

He's under the impression that this vote shows that everyone wants this but is consciously choosing to ignore the very reason for the game, which is four teams and two games they hold so dear. The other teams just vote with them at this point so their schedule will remain easier in the conference. But at the inception of the format, it was all about keeping these "rivalries". Bella is choosing to ignore that pertinent fact or he would be perfectly content with them going 6-1-1 and everyone else going 6-2. Because that is unfair. It's remarkable.
If it were JUST about keeping rivalries, they wouldn't have made LSU play Florida every year. They would have figured out another solution. Have you even read Kramer's mindset about why they chose what they did?

I don't need to know anyone's mindset to understand why we have this inequitable format, and why it won't change.

Again, this only satisfies YOUR definition of fair. I think it's unfair if LSU gets to have Vanderbilt AND Kentucky as their 2 east opponents. If you want pansies, it's why the OOC is up to the school to schedule separately.
When exactly has playing Florida kept you out of an important game? And what about all of the LSU fans who like playing Florida every year? What is their excuse?

Why does it have to be those two teams? It could just as easily be UGA and UF on our schedule on a given year. Why do you choose bad teams when the odds of good teams are just as possible? Oh that's right, because it hurts your argument and showcases the stupidity of this entire thing.

You should at least venture to understand where other people are coming from, and why they may have a different definition of "fair" before you deem yourself the authority on the matter. Who the frick gives a shite if some dumbass on the internet cares if something is fair if he's uninformed and biased?

Again. No one has an issue with playing UF.
How many times has there been a rematch in the SEC Championship game or teams that are permanent opponents?

I enjoy the UF game. It's one of the only teams on our schedule that is a game grounded in this strange level of respect for the most part that I've never fully understood. But it's there.
I would like to play UGA more. Why is that asking for an easier road? It's easy for you to believe this is about being scared. But it's not about that. It's about what is fair and equitable moving forward. The current format isn't.

Stop fricking crying. We're having a discussion and we disagree. Big fricking deal. How many times are you going to put the word "fair" in quotes before you realize that we get it?
Why does your example only include bad teams and not the possibility of good teams?

The current setup is inherently unfair, it's not a legitimate debate to be had.

LSU will play UF 12 times in the next 12 years. LSU will play Vandy 2 times in the next 12 years.
Ole Miss will play Vandy 12 times in the next 12 years. OM will play UF 2 times in the next 12 years.
Under a 6-2 format, however, LSU will play Vandy and UF the same amount Ole Miss will play Vandy and UF over a 12 year period.
(I'm not sure if those are the exact number of times we play teams from other divisions that aren't our permanents but you get the point.

It doesn't hurt my argument. I think your argument is obtuse, biased, and uninformed. I was just pointing out that there are different definitions of fair. It's ridiculous to call my argument stupid when 11 of the 14 teams who could vote agree with my line of thinking. I think you are weak for dismissing my argument as stupid.

Here... read this. This is why they chose not to do this.
Until you understand there are different perspectives on what is "fair", you can't be helped.

They aren't voting on fairness. They're voting on self-interest. What incentive does OM have to change the current structure? ZERO. So your notion that this points to them voting on fairness is completely untrue. They're not.
I've answered your questions and you want to quibble over some existential idea of the true meaning of the word "fair."
Again, LSU could just as easily draw UF and UGA under a 6-2 format. But so could anyone in the West. Just as anyone could draw shite teams too. But not under the current format. Nope. Under the current format, some teams will always have it easier while others will always have it tougher.
Same conference. Same title. Same money. Built-in schedules where some teams have it easier and others tougher.

As we've discussed before:
- Why in the hell would Vandy, Ole Miss, MSU, and UK vote against this? There's 8 of the 14 right there already "in favor" of it.

I read your column Bella. I understand perspectives. I don't think the parity of the two divisions changes the fact that the structure is inherently unfair and you have yet to convince me why the above scenario is fair.

He seems to think they had a vote on "fairness" and 11 voted accordingly. I hope he was there to explain to them what the word meant though. I'm not sure I fully comprehended the nuances of the word until this thread. He taught me that placing an inflection on the word when I speak shows me that it means something different to everyone. He enlightened me.

We are all biased sweetheart.
Why should everyone throw their individual interests aside for the needs of the few at LSU? It's not like you are the voice of rightness and justice in the conference of cheats and scoundrels.

At what point have you failed to realize that we all know they won't change and this will continue? We've stated as much multiple times. Of course they are voting this way. Of course they won't change voting down having to play Vandy every year in an attempt to win the conference rather than UF.
We're debating fairness, not self-interest.
