1. He had to kind of build his reputation at LSU. When he came to Alabama, he already had the reputation and clout and had immediate dramatic success in recruiting (thanks in large part to his LSU success).
2. He's become a better coach with experience.
3. Alabama football is more of a brand name than LSU football so it helps any coach that coaches there. Just the facts.

I can't believe you're only the second guy to say this. That's the number one factor by a large margin.

I think he also responded positively to a little humbling in the NFL - and that may have refreshed his desire to be great at the college level

Spot on IMO. Plus, Bama recruits to the edge, and sometimes a little over. Just the facts..they go all out, not a slam, its total commitment.
