Why is everyone crying about recruiting?
... Ohio State.

. Now where are your parallels?
There are none. There is a reason that a CFB coach has never(that I remember) left a program willingly before coaching a single game. It is a dick move, plain and simple, the program that enables it is also at fault.

We will be fine. 9-10 wins, with a splash hire at the end.

Because a bunch of coaches screw some ho right before spring practice right? And then get fired leaving a very good team without a coach? Happens all the time....
Seriously you sound butthurt. Did you go to Weber State?

I don't understand why they did not promote from within if the alternative was John L Smith.
What about him was so much more enticing to long than promoting within?

This was the biggest dick move in coach hiring since the last time Arky hired a head coach.

keeps the other coaches focused on coaching their positions.

How many times has a pre-season top 15 team not had a coach going into the season?

Happened to Bama very recently.
It's a tough position to be put in and it sucks. Does not mean it's OK to do anything necessary as long as it benefits the program, imo.
Go Philon!!

Haynes - Been on staff since before Cotton Bowl
Petrino - Been on staff since before Cotton Bowl
Johnson - Came in after Cotton Bowl
Horton - Recruiting Coordinator
Haynes and Petrino are Coordinators...Johnson got the admin Assistant Head Coach and was going to start training in HC duties, but he's not ready.
If we named Horton HC, he couldn't be out on the road.
This isn't rocket science guys

like processing players?

Absolutely. Now you just have to move the university to one of the most talent rich states in the country and hope that one of Alabama, LSU, AU, UF, or UGA have embarrassing, tragic scandals so you can pluck their best players away. Good formula to follow.

Since all teams do it, I don't see the correlation to this situation. As I stated, it has never happened.
The Philon situation sucked and posted about that.

There an old saying that will stay true here just as it did when the former coach bad had Bad Karma rear it's ugly head with a vengeance:
Begin Things as you Wish Them to End.
Bobby P, and now Johnny Smith, fricked their "former" employer.....it's not if...it's when the Nega-Karma comes back to Arky.
Please bookmark this post so as not to be shocked when it happens......again.

Smith was at Weber for 4 months. He didn't he recruit the freshman class. But, he had been on UA staff for the three years prior to that 4 months.
It was essentially promoting within.
.... would it have been better to take a coach that had been with a team for five years?

Well it seems to happen at Bama with more regularity...Its not some cool dig I just came up with...
I think if you took the time to look at the big picture you could see why...luckly for other fans its not your problem
