Being 23, I don't remember the days when A&M and LSU would play every year. What was it like? Was it an intense rivalry or just another non-conference game? Did LSU come into College Station and puke bourbon on our sacred grass? Were there fights or did everyone get along? Give me your stories.

If both schools play their cards right, A&M/LSU could become every bit as heated as texas/ou. My dad (Aggie class of '83) holds LSU in as much contempt as texas. Maybe one day us young folks can bring the same hate

Growing up in the 80's and 90's I HATED Texas A&M. When we got Harvey Williams from you guys in recruiting it was sweeter because we beat out A&M. When we beat A&M I'm baseball in 1990, I think, in the Regionals to go to Omaha, it was huge.

Texas A&M will be LSU's new rival. No doubt about it. We will always hate Alabama and will play them for championships, but A&M will be one of those games.

Hope the Aggies can eventually make it competitive. It is going to be ugly for a while.

During the 60's & very early 70's, it wasn't much of a rivalry. Every game was played in Tiger Stadium & LSU won 80% of the time.

In 1974/75, the tide turned with Emory Bellard, the Wishbone, & the big fast juggernaut known as George Woodard. SOB kicked our arse! It wasn't a rent a win for LSU anymore, so we bailed.

The series resumed in the 80's/90's. LSU won the first 3 or 4 mostly good competitive games. It was fun. Then we started to suck as a program & TAMU was on the rise. They won the last 3 or 4 pretty handily. The SEC expanded, a conference game was added & LSU used that as an excuse to bail again.

I'm looking forward to resuming the series. I've always thought it was a natural rivalry. Good recruiting battles, ie Johnny Hector, Harvey Williams, John David Crow, Billy Cannon, Billy Cannon, Jr., & Bucky Richardson. I'd much rather play the Aggies than those Teasippers from tu. Can't wait!

Back in the 40's my dad told me they would beat up an Aggie for their boots. Most of the bars and restaurants had Aggie boots on display with the year and score.

Old Tigers hate aggies, but while its important to remember the past, know we are about to beat that aggie arse in the future.

As a student at LSU in the 90s, I remember it being a hellishly hot early season day game. We lost every year and woke up the next day with the worst hangover ever followed by the realization Curley Hallman was still our coach.

Oh yeah, thanks so much for Curley.

I remember leaving the '94 game and hearing some drunk coonass call into the post game radio show offering $1,000 for Curly's life.

That was the only A&M/LSU game I made it to before LSU backed out. It was a fun one, IMHO. I got a few Tigah Baits thrown my way, and was harassed (in good and bad ways) by the LSU MILF sitting behind me. Saw a bloody fistfight a couple sections over in the shoe. Rodney Thomas ran all over. It was a band trip so the team came down to join in singing the War Hymn after the win. And the best part was that we didn't have to sit around waiting on those pesky TV timeouts for any games that year. Good day all around.

I was pretty young going to games back in the 80's, just a kid. The main things I remember from those days is running around playing catch, waking up barely being able to talk the next day from yelling so much in TS and an unbelievable hate for the Aggies.... It will not take long for this to become heated rivalry again, will be a lot of fun

Here's what it was:

Fun. Hellishly hot if at College Station. If in Baton Rouge, then 1/2 of College Station emptied on Thursday night/early Friday morning for a night in New Orleans. Yell Practice with 6-7k in the French Quarter.

Then you rolled into Baton Rouge and did the typical game day stuff and watched (at least in the 90's) a great, hard fought game. And driving back, you had the realization that there were few big time SWC programs on the schedule and you had just seen a real football game.

Easily my favorite game of the season. Had a buddy go to LSU and we would party together every year before and after the games. I remember back in the first Gulf War, there were plenty of purple and gold shirts around campus. The front said Iraq Sucks and the back said ...And So Does LSU.

I'm not so sure about that....As long as Texas A&M is the "underdog" I believe that A&M (much like Arkansas) will give LSU fits.

On a macro level, the games most LSU fans and players have come to "circle" on the schedule are Bama/Auburn/Florida.... For this very reason IMO is why Arkansas (and A&M) will continue giving LSU problems. Those teams are definitely circling LSU, and while I don't believe LSU overlooks either team, I don't believe the fans and players give those teams the attention they deserve like they do to Bama/Aub/Florida games.

It won't happen every year, and LSU definitely has better talent than both those teams, but I guess what I'm saying is that occasionally LSU is ripe for an upset against either A&M or Arkansas because - as it currently stands - LSU is the biggest game on both of those teams schedule and neither of those games are the biggest game on LSU's schedule.

Us old Tiger fans used to hate the Aggies as it was our first game of the season. Most of the time it was a close game. It will be interesting to restore the rivalry.
