There is a serious lack of sex jokes in this thread.

Right now I would say Austin Shepherd is the 6th lineman. He would fit at right tackle or guard.

Has there been a little lack of (quality?) OL recruiting or something at Bama last few years? Seems like a lot of ?'s there for depth.

Why would a DT take on a LT? Should have said Sam Montgomery being that he is a RE.

One of our left tackles that should be a Sr this year died. The other left tackle that should be a Sr had a string of injuries and is not returning for his 5th year. A Right takle was injured again in his RS Fr year and had two knee surguries in the offseason. Not back ready to play yet. Our best left tackle had knee surgury in the offseason but has been cleared to play within the last few weeks, he is a Soph. A jr is starting at right tackle but does not have the feet to be a top left tackle. RS Fr is coming along well at right tackle but does not have the feet to be a top left tackle.

Then you were as disappointed as I was. I had a bad day and saw this thread and was all like "hey, this should be funny...maybe it'll cheer me up." I was wrong. So very wrong.

That's not what I've heard (About AS being the 6th linemen). Plus, he has NEVER taken a single rep at another position except right tackle. He also could easily go to 3rd RT when Arie is back. I think they are trying a lot of different combos right now. This is what happens when you have a championship team. The other guys don't quite get the reps that they need but they are still quality guys. But Austin S. a guard? Not without the reps or even trial there. Nope. If he was the 6th guy he would be rotating at Left with CK who is only four months post ACL reconstruction. Thats the spot we are low at and also the most difficult to transition in and out from.

Depth for 2012 is going to be fine, however there will be some questions going into 2013 with Jones, Warmack, and most likely Fluker all going pro.

When you consider the quality of Alabama's recruiting classes the last three years, I do think the OL recruiting has been one of the weaker areas. Weak is a relative term here, there have been some solid OL recruits the last 3 years, but there hasn't been one of those dominant OL recruiting classes at Alabama since probably the 2009 group of signees.

2012 Class (3 total):

1 four star
2 three stars

2011 Class (4 total):

1 five star
1 four star (died)
2 three stars

2010 Class (3 total):

1 four star
2 three stars

A very good oline class should be a big focus for 2013 recruiting.

Ok, we all agree Bamas o line has holes.
If you think that sux, what about the CB and safety?
I see Bama going 7-5, maybe 8-4.
Quite a come down. Lose to Ark,LSU,AU.
4th in the west, can only make it to the Liberty Bowl.Or the Papa John Pizza Bowl.
