No, but the gap has closed.

That's the thought process of the average SEC Ranter. Most don't know anything about basketball so they make giant leaps of assumptions.

Hey, Short Busey? Just what do you know about SEC basketball instead of what Kentucky has done? In your world unless someone has won a NC they suck, have always sucked and will always sucked.

You've really become quite the Mr Know it All lately.

frick 'em. We suck at football right now and I still don't give a shite. The ACC is T-R-A-S-H in football.

The ACC has a shite load of talent in football. They just lack coaching and usually flop in big games.

If you go by this years RPI. SEC = 4 top 25 teams. ACC only has 3. I think the gap is pretty small between the two conferences.*

*Note: RPI probably isn't the best measuring stick, I am aware.

The gap is small this year, yes. This is the smallest the gap will ever be though. The SEC will never be equivalent or better than the ACC in basketball. Not enough fricks are given in the SEC about basketball as there is in football.

I don't think so. Duke won't have a leg to stand on once Coack K is done. Y'all will still have Syracuse, though. Outside of UNC and Syracuse, there just really aren't any perennial powers in the ACC. Maryland has had sporadic success but not much more.

And who in the frick are your perennial powers?

All you have is Kentucky ... Florida had 2 good years. That's it. And Duke will still compete, just not as consistently.

Did I say we had any besides Kentucky?

I'm just saying that all it would take is Kentucky being Kentucky, Florida being what they are now, and a couple others to get back to where they once were.

And the SEC would be a better league hand over fist.

The likelihood of Wake, Maryland, and Georgia Tech rebuilding >>> than the likelihood of say LSU, Georgia, and Ole Miss ...

and you are forgetting about FSU ... Leonard Hamilton is putting together a nice program down there. They made a deep run last year, and could do so again this year.

Well, obviously.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Arkansas, LSU, Vandy, or State.

My point is, you're wrong if you think the ACC is hands down a better league right now (although it is better).

Y'all have two great teams and a bunch of mediocre and bad teams. To our one great team and a bunch of mediocre and bad teams. Maybe you could consider UF better than mediocre but at this point I don't know.

I don't think they are hands down better ... I said that this would probably be the closest, as a conference, that the SEC got to the ACC.

Then why are there 9 SEC teams this year with rpis under 100 and only 6 ACC teams? SEC just scheduled better this year? Bottom of ACC is crap this year. Bama scheduled games against Maryland and Ga Tech to help its rpi and it has actually hurt it. Would have been better off playing mid majors like Creighton or Murray State. Bama has two better wins in VCU and Wichita ST.

Because both of these teams are young, and are having to learn new systems. It will be much easier for the ACC teams having down years to recover than it will be for the SEC teams. The ACC has 6 schools in the top 25 for next years recruiting class, where the SEC only has 2.

Neither of those arguments would rebut the premise that the SEC is better this year. Next year's recruiting class is irrelevant to this year's team. The fact that your teams are young or have new coaching staffs only helps prove my point that the SEC teams are better, stronger this year. I am not saying there has been a shift in the balance of power, only that the ACC is way down this year and the SEC is a better basketball conference this year. RPIs and KenPom agrees with me.

I really think the SEC is underrated this year, just based on watching Arkansas play Michigan and some other OOC teams. Michigan was slow as molasses.

It was one game! When is the last time a D1 men's basketball team went undefeated? Exactly! It is so easy for one team to have an off night and the other team to be making everything they throw up.

I hope some of the SEC and ACC teams get matched up in the NCAA tournament and the NIT.
