ACC, and Big East is some of the most overrated ball out there. The gap is not that wide.

I was actually thinking the exact opposite after Florida yesterday. This league is Kentucky and 11 other teams that nobody even cares about. I'm thinking Kentucky is the only team after round 2.

They are down this year, but I don't think they are overrated at all. Big East basketball = SEC football in my opinion.

Take out UNC, Duke, and ky out for a moment, and you could have a bunch of middling teams all trying to figure out who they are.

But the ACC does still have Duke and NC. We have Kentucky and our 2nd best is hardly a top 25 team this year. Next year when we add Mizzou, then maybe you could make that argument.

WTH That would be stupid if they did..I see a ton of these on the road

Not hard when you have 20 teams...

You're bound to have a few really good ones.

Florida beat FSU 82-64. Bama beat Maryland 62-42 and Ga Tech 73-48. KY beat NC 73-72. VDY beat N.C. ST 86-79.

Duke beat TN 77-67. FSU beat AU 85-56.

ACC is in a rebuilding period as a whole ... Duke,UNC, and FSU are the only schools that have not made a coaching change within the last three years. The ACC is a better bball conference though.

Well, yes and no. The precise reason you say this highlights why the SEC is probably a little bit stronger top to bottom right now.

Maryland is probably about the #7 team in the ACC so that one may say beating them is "not an accomplishment" underlines how far down the ACC is depth wise from the 90s when even their 8th and 9th place teams were often solid.

That the SEC has 9 teams in the RPI 100 while the ACC has 6 underlines this as well. Not a huge difference but more easy wins in the ACC bottom of the standings.

It is this year. Barely.

It probably won't be next year, though.

I think I'd take Florida State over whoever is running third in the SEC right now (Vandy? Bama? whatever). The Noles are legit this year, not sure of the standings but last I checked they are right there with Duke and UNC for the title and have beaten both. Beyond that I'd agree that both leagues are kinda middling this year...Virginia has really come on by their standards but against a Bama or Vandy I think I'd give the nod to the SEC in that one.

aaaand just as i type that, FSU is in the process of getting upset at Miami. But the Canes won at Duke this year too so they have some spunk.

A lot of the ACC's strength depends on how schools like GT, UVA, NC State, and Maryland are doing. It's almost a given than UNC and Duke are going to be good or great 9 years out of 10. UVA and Maryland are in good hands. GT should be a perennial top 25 program but never seems to be able to sustain. NC State is about to turn into a dumpster fire.

Probably be Florida at #3 who did beat FSU by around 20 earlier --though UF was playing better at the time.

Next would probably be UVA - Bama which is probably a toss up as both are good on days, no so great on others.

Where the SEC is stronger IMO right now is that the Bubble / NIT group of Miss St, LSU, Tenn, Arky, Ole Miss is better than Miami, NC St, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Clemson.

SEC has 10 titles while the ACC has 12.

Dating back to 2000, the ACC has won 5 its 12.

The ACC is down right now that is all.

Robot Santa - am not totally sure how to interpret the dumpster fire comment but I assume you mean NCSU is gonna go to hell rather than saying they are gonna get hot/be on fire. Whatever the case, the Wolfpack bring in Rodney Purvis next year who is a supertar stud combo guard recruit in the mold of Derrick Rose, so I expect them to be a factor and at least threaten for an NCAA bid.
