I don't know if this is true, but if it is, it shows a key difference between LSU and Tennessee:

When Honey Badger questions the coaching, he makes so many plays that coaching can't screw anything up.

When Da'Rick Rogers questions the coaching, he quits.

OP is correct...to paraphrase interviews:

"what was it like to be down early?"

CLM: "There was never a doubt we'd come back, etc...:

TM7: "We were questioning ouselves and questioning our coaches"
