I sat in the Rebel Club this weekend and all these rich Ole Miss old guys/alums were telling me that Leach won't get it because he's Mormon. I had never heard that before. And they told me there is ZERO shot a black guy gets hired because of the good ole boy network.
bullshite!
I am an Ole Miss alum. I would not make this shite up. I seriously had like a quarter long drunk conversation with 4 old rich Ole Miss alums and they were telling me this shite. One of whom is my good friends father who I know donates a lot.
I didn't say I necessarily believed them, just sharing what they said.

From my understanding, the NCAA can retroactively apply sanctions to the potential school, for example, OM, for hiring a coach with the "failure to monitor" action taken against them. After a certain time period, however, those go away. Correct me if I'm wrong here this is just what I've heard.

It doesn't surprise me that someone said this or even that a large group of people think it......but I seriously doubt we actually take Leach being a Mormon into consideration.

Agreed unless we are begging for the EEOC to come calling.

Leach wont get hired because he brings so much baggage. It will be Hud from ULL or Freeze from ASU IMO. Seem to be the two names with the most traction.

He is a good coach and can certainly recruit but he would be risky, risky. Not sure he would even know how to do it within the rules.

I have been saying since Nutts demise that Ole Miss should break the bank and get Al Golden or Skip Holtz.
I think both guys would have the program headed in the right direction with recruiting AND coaching, a talent combo that has escaped the last two coaches.

Talked with some Ole Miss guys this weekend. I was told Jon Gruden was someone they were looking at as well as the head coach at Arkansas St. Archie is leading the search.

Freeze from ASU
2 years HC at Lambuth(sp?) and one at ASU does not ready you for anything close to SEC play.
Freeze is no where close to ready.

I like Hud.
And it would also be a big F U to most MSU fans who really like him.

agreed.
But we didn't hire Ed O to win ball games. He was never going to because he was sabotaged from the beginning. We wanted to bring someone in that was a relentless recruiter to help build our team's talent up and then get someone else. If Ed O actually ended up being a good coach and winning a good bit of games, then cool. If he didn't.....oh well.....we only payed him ~900k a year.

Either they, or you, have no idea what you are talking about on this point.

It's going to be Fedora.

I actually agree with them about this. I think it just won't happen.
I'd bet my middle nut that Ole Miss doesn't hire a black head coach.

They would be dumb to not hire him.
